Stay somewhere else!
By Zachary, 3/12/09
The hotel has an age restriction so if you want to stay at a place that doesn't have children around this is the place to go. The buffet is very large and has decent food although it got old after a few days as the selection didn't change much day to day. As for service, the bars are very understaffed, lots of waiting for a drink. Also you have to pay for a lock and key for the safe in the rooms which is aboslutely a joke as it is around 4 dollars a day. The hotel does not cover any loss to personal property unless it was in your safe. A couple from our group found out the hard way. They had 300 dollars cash hidden in their suitcase and had it stolen by the housekeeping. They went through their dirty clothes to find it, of course the hotel wouldn't do anything about it because it wasn't in the safe. Needless to say their were security guards accompanying the housekeeping staff the rest of the time we were there. Location of the hotel was great, nice beach and decent pool. We went to the sister resort, the Grand Oasis to check that out. Much better place, bigger pool and friendlier staff.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/10
The hotel had its "grand opening" the day before we arrived. It should have stayed closed. Lobby looked great but we received are rude awakening when we hit the room. Paid for an upgrade for ocean view got weed view. Requested a room change got the "ocean view suite" view was amazing. room was what I would have expected at a motel 6 that had been opened and run down for 10 years. Found out that key lock was not working after a drunk used his key to enter our room at one in the morning. Moved to another "suite" TV did not work, phone did not work, shower did not work, tub did not drain, hair dryer blue up. Manager thinks all these things including a drunk entering our room in the middle of the night and getting angry when we tryed to push him out of the room. NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL IT SHOULD HAVE STAYED CLOSED IF YOU ASK ME THEY JUST OPENED THE DOORS AFTER IT HAD SAT UNUSED FOR A YEAR WITH OUT UPDATING OR ENSURING THAT EVERY THING WAS WORKING. Oh yeah, entertainment what entertainment. I think they should have paid me to stay there.

Had an awesome time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/1/05
A group of us visited Cancun for the first time in July, 2005. One of the best vacations I've ever had. The pool and beach was spectacular. Just breath taking. However if you have children, be prepared for the topless women at the pool. This hotel is suppose to be family friendly. They should designate an area away from pools if they are going to allow it. The staff was great. Everyone-from those who clean, to those who serve food were so kind and helpful. (Get a massage while your there - wonderful). I was especially impressed with the entertainment staff. They were alot of fun and they are always coming around inviting you to do something. The rooms could use an update. Had a strong musty odor when you walked in the first time but eventually, you didn't notice it. Beds are not the greatest and the bathroom was not in the best condition but then again, I didn't go there to stay in my room. For the price you pay, it's worth forgoing the pleasures of a great room. Believe me, the pool and beach is so worth it. Food was okay but expected that. Wish they had more to offer at the sit down resturants. Drinks however were awesome. Also, we visited the other Oasis hotels while we were there and this one was way better as far as staff, pool and beach conditions were concerned. The guest at Oasis CAncun were very loud and Oasis Viva had a horrible septic odor at the pool. I would recommend Oasis Playa and would definately go there again.

Not worth the moeny
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/08
This place is horrible. Nothing to do but sit around like old people, and i am 34 years old. No activities or fun stuff to do. The Gekko Bar was unattended everynight, the food was WAY out of the ordinary. I would never go back.

Waste of money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/23/05
While the hotel is in an excellent location it is not worth the money spent going there. Hotel staff was friendly but the food and hotel was filthy. The pool was dirty and looked as if it had not been cleaned. The food was beyond horrible. The cafeteria was dirty and often times it was the only place to eat at the hotel. The other restaruants that were decent were never available. the hotel made it very difficult to make reservations to eat at the restaurants. You had to make reservations at the front desk by 9 am in the morning in order to eat there. The drinks at the "open bar" were made with the cheapest alcohol. They didn't even use decent tequila for the drinks. To make a long story short, any money spent going to this hotel is too much! Dont waste your time or your money going there. Beleive me.

loved the beach, not so much the hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/16/05
The beach and pool area was amazing, and Cancun was my favorite place to visit. The beach and ocean was beautiful and I can't wait to go back. The oasis playa hotel was not terrible, but I wish we stayed somewhere else. It was very hot in the hotel(aircondition wasn't on too high)...We had small bugs flying around our bathroom sink, and we found a roach in our closet the last day. Overall, next time I wouldn't stay there, but it was ok if you're trying to save money.

Get out of Dodge City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/08
This is not a 5 star resort as advertised... dirty rooms, urine on toilet seats, loud air conditioners, mold on pillows and shower curtains, towels that you would use as rags, poor service and horrible food. Everyone in our party (4) all got violently ill and ended up checking out a day early which wasn't soon enough. Staff could care less... most times there wasn't a staff person around. At a five star resort, you would expect to get waited on, served drinks, something... never again.
