Hotel Quinta Real Guadalajara, Vallarta Norte

The service is first-rate and the rooms and grounds are beautiful. After being exposed to the Quinta Real Guadalajara I immediately changed my reservations in Monterrey to the Quinta Real there. A great brand.

Although this place was constructed in 1986... the style of architecture resembles a once Colonial Mexico of the early 1800's. The rooms reminded me of my Grandparents House with their stepdown bedrooms, and balconies, with thick 'cantera' rock walls, and artwork from days gone by. The restaurant serves the best chilaquiles I've had outside my kitchen ofcourse. Book a night or two, and experience it for yourself.

A nice hotel made of stone with a small pool and gardens located in a relatively quiet, mostly residental area near the Minerva fountain. Plenty of staff members, generally cooperative, relatively high prices for this city but the hotel is marred by a restaurant with an overly pretentious menu and average to below average food. The restaurant service is friendly and the waiters are cooperative but poorly organized so sometimes you get butter and water, sometimes you don't. A lot of the lunch and dinner items did not seem to be cooked to order, the meat was served lukewarm and the snapper, usually outstanding in Mexico, was rubbery. The chicken with mole was the best item on the menu but it too was lukewarm. I suspect that they serve frozen items that they microwave when they are ordered. The rooms are nicer than the Camino Real but the food is nowhere near the level of the Camino Real and other hotels. In addition to the bad food, the restaurant provides live entertainment at most meals. Unfortunately the music is all substandered; did you see the movie "El Mariachi"? Upon check out I was charged for several phone call attempts to a US 800 number that didn't go thru because the number is not accessable from Mexico however the employee handling the checkout refused to credit me with the $5.00 or so that I was charged saying "the charge goes through when you attempt to dial the phone, doesn't matter if the call was successful or not". On top of a $2,500 bill I thought that the refusal to credit me for the trivial amount was somewhat tacky! In summary, a very attractive physical facility with some shortcomings. If you can avoid the restaurant and room service you will be happy otherwise I suggest booking elsewhere.

Absolutely gorgeous, immaculate rooms! The room had a large office/living space with a fireplace, desk with high speed connection, a huge bathroom with granite surrounding the tub, and comfortable beds. We looked in other rooms and they all looked equally pretty. The grounds are lovely, landscaped lawns and sculptures around the pool area. The restaurant had wonderful food and the breakfast service was prompt and friendly. The only dark cloud at this hotel was the dinner wait staff. They were slow and at one point resembled the Keystone Kops. Good, friendly and helpful concierge staff. We stayed 4 nights and could have stayed longer. Not much around it in the neighborhood. Cabs everywhere.
