Never Go Here!
Arrangments were made for my daughter's wedding guests to stay here over the weekend of May 28th, 2005. I was shocked to find the conditions were so terrible! There was garbage outside throughout the parking lot. The pool area was dirty also, although friends staying here said that "it had just been cleaned" and opened for the first time in two days. While standing in the pool area, several of the other guests saw a rat running into the laundry facility, shouted at the employee that was IN the laundry room, and was told that she's used to it. She even called the rat her "buddy"! The rooms themselves were dirty. The carpets were so dirty that walking bare-footed for only a few minutes in the room made the bottoms of your feet BLACK! It was terrible! Some of the guests left and moved into another hotel in the area, but there wasn't room for all of the guests, so some were forced to stay there. My brother's room had bugs in his bed, and large cockroaches all over. I refused to go back into the room, but found that many other rooms had the same problems. This was so upsetting to think that these people had traveled from Ohio to South Carolina for my daughter's wedding and ended up having to stay in a rat-infested, bug-ridden, flea-infested hotel. Every one of those staying there should have received their money back, but only some of the guests were fortunate enough to be reimbursed. The desk manager was anything but cooperative or considerate. She actually acted as if each complaint was the first and only complaint. She even went so far as to charge an additional room onto one guest's billing - because another guest was so upset with the conditions and his treatment that he left without paying anything. The manager had previously been informed of the refusal to pay. The manager took it upon herself to charge the PAYING guest for that room - simply because she had the credit card number used for payment. The two occupants knew one another, but this additional room charge had NOT been arranged or agreed to. The manager had in fact been notified that the angry guest was not intending to pay at all! This should be considered theft! The Health Department should certainly be notified and this place shut down before someone contracts diseases from these filthy conditions. Hopefully people will not stop complaining until this place is closed down for good - and each and every guest is reimbursed by Holiday Inn! To do otherwise is just irresponsible! PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE - if you value your health at all!
