Awesome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/11/08
There was nothing to NOT love about this place. I notice there is one reviewer who keeps posting the same "bad" review over the last 6 months... I wonder if it is a jealous competitor. I arrived late in Aspen after a delayed flight and had NO PROBLEM getting picked up. The driver was great. Check in was flawless. I don't know about the "bad attitudes" listed although if one doesn't travel much maybe they just dont encounter different cultures. All my requests were met with smiles and efficient service. The room service was always fast and excellent and the food excellent. Handmade pickles and salumi...mmmmmmmm. The room was GREAT with excellent views of the mountain (rm. 76). They offer to drive you anywhere in town and pick you up. Best part is they are dog lovers. I didn't have my dog but read about the puppy jet lag kit and made a comment to a member of the concierge staff and arrived at my room to find some gourmet doggie biscuits to take home. My pup loved them. This is a true 5 star hotel. Maybe some people like this shiny new monstrosities with robotic rehearsed service but I love the Little Nell and wish more experiences could be like this.

Little Nell is overrated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/29/08
GREAT LOCATION. Ummm. excellent restaurant. BUT they are full of themselves. Switch out rooms without being asked (2 queens when we booked a king). Cannot deliver on what every other 5 start hotel can do, and that get you in somewhere no questions ask. And they charge for LOCAL calls!!! $870 a night.

The Best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/26/07
I don't know what those reviewers that rated Little Nell low are thinking. It doesn't get any better than Little Nell. Enough said. The Montagna was great and try the Marini's at the bar. You won't be disappointed.

A Sinking Ship!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/07
What can you say about a 5 star hotel that has been steadily going down hill for the past few years? The major disappointment is the food service and management at Montagna. Once the premier restaurant in Aspen, Montagna is now a standing joke, well known for bad food, shoddy service and a nasty and hostel staff. During my last meal there were problems at every table, from the wrong orders being brought out, to billing customers twice for their entries. The manager working refused to fix the problems, and would not correct the billing. Nothing was her or the restaurants fault. She managed to get aggressive and yell at the people sitting next to us. This is the fundamental problem with Montagna and the Hotel its self, the absolute indifference to everything. These problems have been going on for sometime now and the management is either unaware of the problems or does not care about the service. This is a shame. The hotel used to be great.

What Service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/07
We recently spent two nights at The Little Nell. We've never been treated so well and don't expect to be again, unless we are lucky enough to return. The bathroom was just perfect, there was a Bose C.D. player, with C.D.'s, a big screen television, a nice deck, beautiful linens, etc. Imagine coming back from shopping, etc., and finding your previously lived-in room in apple pie order, music playing softly, the bed turned down, chocolates, bedside reading, and clean white mats by the bed. (All this for an old Arkansas country girl!) It was lovely and the people who work there were, too. They care a lot and it shows.

We can't wait to go back!
By LauraD, 07/06/07
We loved the service, the atmosphere (elegant casual), the food, the rooms, the details...details galore! Original artwork, high end fixtures, design beauty, quality flooring, quality rooms (Belgian berber wool carpet, soft on the foot), the bathrooms! The bathrooms are worth the trip unless you have a spa bathroom at home. The bathrooms had nice tile work, separate porcelain soaking tub and wonderful bubble bath, separate shower, separate toilet room, 2 vanities with separate sinks, three oversize mirrors, one magnifying lighted mirror, hair dryer, steamer, iron, I could go on...) We had the premier town view room. It was recently remodeled in a country french style with quality products, original art, fireplace, twice a day cleaning and true turn down service. Spectacular views in any direction. Service to die for...top notch all the way. Beef is raised for them exclusively and all their cattle are grass fed, no chemicals. The best food in Aspen, best burger I ever ate. Just be nice to the staff. I was told Aspen gets a lot of arrogant visitors and no one likes that. We stayed 3 nights; we stayed in the St Regis one night and it was no where near as nice although their staff was superb in customer service.

Wonderful Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/06
If you are visiting Aspen, This is the place to stay. It is right downtown and within walking distance to everything. Great restaurants, shops and the gondola for Aspen mountain are right at your doorstep. I never had to use my car in the 6 days I stayed there. The hotel staff was excellent, on par with any Four Seasons I have stayed at. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the California king size beds were A+. The hotel restaurant was excellent – breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Hotel staff went out of their way to get us anything that we needed. Complimentary rides to and from anywhere in town, great concierge service and very attentive cleaning staff. They even folded my shirts I had left laying on one of the chairs. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Next Time The Hotel Jerome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/09/06
I observed two gentlemen present themselves to the front desk to inquire about future reservations and rates..............the attitude of the "clerks" at the desk was demeaning and bordered on discrimination in the vilest sense of the word. The tone with which they responded to these well-dressed men suggested "if we don't already know you.....then you are not important enough to stay here." I will never return to an environment that tries to present itself as a closed shop for only the "inner" circle of "wannabe" upscale guests....................NOT!!! What happened to the graciousness of the staff only a short time ago?
