Loews is located really well! ocean front with loads of action for kids and adults

I was for business there, pay by my company. Good location, clean room, but too expensive for traveler. Limited tv channels. If I should pay myself, I'll rather not stay here.

I was NOT impressed at all. We went midweek for three days and got a partial ocean view room. The first room we received was on the bottom level with a lovely view of a wall and road very loud and not safe. You can't leave your slider/window open the place is filled with transients. We asked to be moved which we were and then we went up to the 7th floor. They closed the Hotel Pool (Sunday PM) for a wedding so that was irritating even though they set people up to go next door to another hotel it wasn't convenient. They were very rude about getting everyone out of the pool and didn't offer towels just kicked everyone out. Our new rooms air conditioning was broken and it took 2 days to fix. We also had a broken phone, no robes in the room, no hair dryer, and the TV had terrible reception. The hotel very kindly sent up a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit plate which was nice, but at the end of the day we were very inconvenienced. The area was convenient except not right on the beach. You have to cross the road and then it is a long haul to the ocean from the beach. You have to carry your own chairs etc and so it isn't RIGHT ON THE BEACH. I've stayed at much better places in Santa Monica and not spent as much. The food was OK very expensive and the service was just marginal...

The board members of the Loew's corporation should be proud to know that the Loew's Santa Monica does not have the worst service I've ever experienced in a hotel..it's 2nd only to the Loew's South Beach. The shareholders of your corporation would be ashamed if they knew how poorly your flagship hotels were run. It's astonishing both hotels can get away with it just because of location.

The service at this place was so bad that if you saw an employee smile, it meant that it was time to tip them. You are very fortunate to have come upon this review before booking this hotel for your vacation. Don't do it. This hotel looks nothing like the pictures. Its resemblance with its pictures is about the same as mine with Brad Pitt. They also ignore to tell you that there is a massive construction project going on between the hotel and the beach. So much for ocean view. This hotel was a disaster from the moment I pulled in. At the front desk they tried to overcharge me for the room. Fortunately, I had an email copy of my reservation confirmation. Then they put me in a smoking room when I had requested a non-smoking one. It took them 20 minutes to give me another room. I requested a bell boy to move my luggage to the new room. After 15 minutes of waiting, I did it myself. Service was bad throughout the stay. Calls to the front desk or concierge commonly resulted in hold times of up to 5 minutes. I once called and requested 2 wine glasses - about 45 minutes later, I got 4 regular glasses. Request for a late check-out was denied. The food, rooms and amenities were mediocre - yet exorbitantly priced. The towels were the kind you find at Target for 4 bucks. The carpets desperately needed to be shampooed. There was no coffee maker in the room - and a pot of coffee delivered to my room cost $14. The restaurant has a view of the construction site - instead of the ocean. The food or service was nothing to rave about. On a positive note, they had very good martinis! Dinner for 2 set was $115 (4 drinks and 2 main courses - no dessert or appetizers). This is basically a $100/night hotel, priced at $300+/night.

Three words: location, location, location! Loews was the perfect place to stay for the total Santa Monica experience. If you want to visit LA and stay away from the stereotypical concrete jungle, then Lowes would provide the ideal place for your getaway. Everything you need is a very short walk or taxi ride away. Ocean view dining (check out Boa Steakhouse at sunset for the perfect romantic evening), the 3rd Street Promenade (shopping, street performers, dining), Santa Monica Pier (amusement park), live music (Harvell's & the Temple are great), day spas (Burke Williams is the ultimate luxury), the beach, you name it! The hotel itself was very attractive and very comfortable. Breakfast at Loews on the patio provided a wonderful start to the day with a spectacular sunrise view of the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, if its a view you're looking for, don't get your heart set on the ocean view rooms, they were average at best. The hotel pool was perfect for sun bathing and the chairside service was awesome for relaxing with a Pina Colada. Overall, Loews provided for a great experience and I would absolutely go back!

Loew's Santa Monica Beach Hotel was a very nice hotel. I was there at a conference so my company paid for it. I would not have wanted to spend the $300+ for a room there out of my pocket!! The room was small and nice but nothing that special. The location was awesome. It was right by the beach and right near the Santa Monica Pier.

The location and customer service were excellent. The rooms were well decorated and kept very clean. (The housekeeping staff also changed the sheets on my baby's crib every day.) The work out room was very good (free weights, Precor treadmills and Cybex machines). The breakfast and service at the hotel retaurant were first rate. I also found the on-site Hertz rental car desk to be very convenient. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and I would recommend it highly to anyone staying in Santa Monica.

Great location. Nicely remodeled. Right by the pier and walking distance to restaurants.
