What a wonderful place
My friend and I needed a place to stay for a week or two while we were looking into apartments. Originally we stayed in a Best Western, but we moved into Chariot Inn after finding out it was almost half the price. The room, however, was just as clean and had all the same amenities (except for microwave) that the more expensive hotels have (plus they have a AAA discount). The room had comfortable beds, a nice tv, internet hook up, and refrigerator. The staff was very helpful (always giving us fresh towels and extra toiletries) and the manager even offered to be a reference for us for jobs and apartments. It's located right in the heart of Glendale on Colorado Blvd, within walking distance of Brand St, and right by the 2 freeway (and close to the 5). I think they had a continental breakfast too if you're into that, but I was never awake for it. Oh, and there's a pool too - but you can always drive to the beach in an hour or so.
The only problem we even had was that the battery on the door lock died - which the manager fixed within 10 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. I've stayed at other hotels in LA, but this is by far the best for its price I have ever stayed in. I couldn't believe there weren't any reviews for it when I looked, so I had to write a plug for it. There's really no reason not to stay - I even heard that some single rooms have jacuzzis in them. Save your money (and the time it would take you to move out of a hotel that's twice as expensive for a microwave) and stay at the Chariot Inn.
