Not nearly as good as a disney resort
By ,
While the hotel staff were friendly, the Pickaboo 24 hour food stop were rude and went out of thier way to be confrontational and unfriendly. None of the food was good in any of the restaurants and was VERY overpriced. It was much cheaper to eat in the park. The rooms are very dingy and SOOOOOO humid. The airconditioner did not work well and they had to bring us a dehumidifier because everything in our room was wet and uncomfortable. The evelvator stink and are old as are the conditions of the hotel except in the pool and lobby areas. You also do not get half of the channels that the menu says you will get. The walk from the pool to your room takes forever. When leaving the parks by bus, it takes FOREVER because unlike the other hotels, thier buses service three hotels instead of just one so you have to ride to all of them and the are so over cramped. There isn't much disney at all inside this hotel either. We have stayed at other disney resorts and off property hotels and this one was clearly one of the worst. We will only stay at Disney in the future. Military stay away. They offer a discount on the room and food but everywhere you look they are trying to overcharge you to get thier discount back. You have to look closely at everything. Shades of Green is much nicer except for the pool. The bathrooms are GROSS.

STAY AT A DISNEY HOTEL -- THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM
By ,
This was our second stay at the Disney Dolphin -- the first time we stayed in this hotel with 19 members of our family and loved the Disney Dolphin -- of course at that time the hotels Swan and Dolphin were owned by Disney. Now the hotel is owed by Starwood and you can truly see the differences. The hotel is gravely understaffed in all areas. One night we came back to our hotel room at 7PM after having been out since 8AM only to find that the room hadn't been cleaned. It doesn't help complaining to the front desk as they will do little to nothing and surely won't display any empathy. Even as we walked by the maids (who were hanging out in the hall way on our floor) they were speaking in another language giggling to one another while watching us walk down the hall --- unprofessional at best. The restaurants in the hotel are average and are overpriced. The one nice restaurant (the one with the Football theme) has an incompentent wait staff -- we actually were charged for 2 items we never received. This restaurant brags about it's beef but I have to tell you my husband and I both ordered the prime rib and it had so much fat it was unbelievable -- we've eaten prime rib in many other restaurants and never have we had fatty beef like the beef we had in this restaurant. This hotel has a mandatory "$10.00/day" charge plus $.65/day tax that covers 2 bottles of water, internet service, etc.....even if you don't want this you have to pay for it. The location of this hotel is excellent but there are other hotels that are actually owned by Disney where the service and location is excellent . If I were to visit Disney again I would choose to stay in a Disney hotel. Overall, our stay at the Dolphin was disappointing -- I will not stay there ever again and will surely discourage anyone I know from staying there

Delightful and Memorable 1st Visit with the Kids
By ,
Excellent first visit to WDW for our 6 an 8 yr olds. Service: We encountered a friendly and accomodating staff. Restaurants on site are excellent in both the Dolphin and Swan. Be sure to book them well in advance though, this is still WDW! Go to Disney.com. Cleanliness: We started our stay with a bummer. Our room wasn't completely cleared out of the previous guest's unopened foodstuff. Things were in the mini-fridge and behind the pull-out. Sheets were clean, but faintly discolored. The front desk was very apologetic and had the room cleaned up and changed out right away. Next 4 days was spotless. Location: The Swan and its companion hotel The Dolphin are in a terrifc central location for touring WDW and visiting the neighboring Boardwalk resorts. Transport to DHS and Epcot is by 100 person ferries that run like clockwork. The boat ride itself is a delight, especially at night. Value: Very good for our stay. We booked through Delta vacations and got the "run of house". When we checked in we were able to get a standard balcony room with Boardwalk view, no extra charge. They also had "junior suites available, but we wanted the blacony. If you can get a Boardwalk view room, I'd suggest it. It's a lovely view of Epcot as well. Stay above the 6th floor since trees will block the view otherwise. Room 626 is the best view. We stayed in 629. Got this tip from "The Unofficial Guide to Dsiney". Terrific book. - Excellent grotto pool! Resort feel. - Character breakfast at the Swan on Sat. was very good. We walked in without reservations. Only two chars. but the buffet was great. - Close proximity to Dolphin makes it feel like twice the hotel grounds. Explore both. Grounds are immaculately kept. -Very good little gift shop in the Swan. - Look for the rabbits in the flower beds. The kids loved them. Being Disney we thought they were robots! Overall our first day was a bummer with the room issue, but the hotel staff landed on their feet and the rest of our stay was outstanding.

Infested with BEDBUGS
By ,
Went for a labor day weekend R & R, not to the theme parks, but just to enjoy the resort amenities. Woke up to find bedbugs crawling on the white sheets. I trapped one under a glass and called the front desk. Then waited 45 minutes for someone to come and tell me they would send someone to get the linens. Then waited over 3 hours more for someone to show up to take them. We had given up and planned to shower and get out of there. Darcy the security supervisor was rude and insinuated we were lying, the manager refused to talk about the problem and directed calls to security again. By then it was check out time and still the room hadn't been touched. Called Westin Corporate office - they are still closed for the holiday. Finally at 4 PM as we were pulling into our home, Kevin from security called to tell us the room tested positive for bedbugs and recommended that we treat our home. Again, it felt as if we were accused of bringing them Luckily, we had not brought the luggage into our home. We immediately went to a coin laundry, car wash to vac the car and threw our luggage in the trash. In all what looked like a great value was a 2 day exhausting adventure and cost us dearly to prevent infestation of our home. And still no response from Management! We are planning to cancel our Thanksgiving plans for Disney Resorts as a result of this nightmare.

Fantastic
By ,
From checking in to checking out we found this hotel better than we expected. We were treated really well, the staff were all so pleasent and helpful, nothing was ever a problem. They let us upgrade our room and agreed a late check out, we felt well looked after. Our room was always clean with a good supply of tea & coffee. The bathroom was spotless. Aspecial thank you to Tyson on reception for the extended checkout on our last day alowing us a nice relaxed morning by the pool and lunch before having to pack for our return to the UK. The disney transport was great, and it was also good to be able to walk to Epcot & Hollywood Studios. The whole experience was just the best,we would recommend it to anyone. Thank you to all the Staff and also the guys at the Cabana bar, especially Dennis & Tim, who always had time to have a chat. Thank you all again, hope to return one day. Just proves Disney is not just for the little ones as we have no children an are both nearer 50 June & Dorian Gaskin

Would stay there anytime!
By ,
We shipped something in advance and when we got there they brought it up to our hotel room. It was so nice, they had a huge beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby. The location was Amazing, we just went outside our room and got on a boat or bus, and got to the park in less than 15 minutes. Once we walked out and on to the board walk and they were playing Pirates of the Carribean 3 on the beach, being projected onto a blow up screen. It was amazing, there was sand all around the lake, making it seem like we were on a beach, random hammocks were all around making it a perfect relaxation place. It was a great value for the price.

Finally a clean, quiet Hotel. Bus service to Disney World, Boat to Epcot, walk to The Boardwalk. A+++. Only negative was the mandatory $10 room charge for mini bar which we didnt use.

Never again!
By ,
The website for the resort makes the place seem like a top notch hotel, but the hotel and the service is lacking. The room was clean but on the second day of our stay they started construction on the floors above us and the noise was terrible! The staff was very rude and preferred to make up lies to calm down the guest. Not worth the hassle for this price.

Expensive, institutional, aging and small rooms
By ,
Really expensive but so are other hotels. Small rooms that are becoming dated. Forget about personal service, this is Disney. Rooms should be updated soon. For the rates they charge, I expected a newer bathroom, windows that could open, a slightly larger room and service that could be flexible. Instead I got an old room, inflexible check-out rules, and fancy hotel lobby where the guy on piano plays "Stairway to Heaven". I rather have spent my money on seeing Led Zepplin live. . . .
