A week was enough

Have just returned from a weeks package holiday in iceland based at this hotel. Had we (my wife and I) known before we went that this hotel is used by overseas schools visiting iceland on field trips, we would have gone else where. We effectively spent our holiday in a school dormitory surrounded by teenagers, and having three in the family already it was no joy to have 20 or 30 of them in adjoining rooms. Breakfast was like a return to school surrounded by teachers and pupils. Breakfast was interupted by the head teacher asking everybody to be quiet while she outlined the days itinery. So we then decided to breakfast later, but then all that was left to choose from were the remnants of what even the pupils didnt want. Breakfast is good if you like cheese and wholemeal bread. But, the coffee was good and so was the orange juice.
The staff didnt seem to smile much, and the term 'Customer-Service' is unknown, it would appear.
The room was clean and adequate, cleaned daily with fresh towels supplied but no tea or coffee making facilities for those looking for that sort of thing.
The hotel bar is stocked up every evening and then all packed away at about eleven when the waiter goes home. And you wont get anything after then as I can bear witness to.
So, Iceland is a great country to visit for landscape and geology etc. We would definatley go again, but will avoid this hotel.
The hotel is officially rated at 3 stars, and in my opinion, thats a maximum.
