Weddings-Embassy Suites-Pittsburgh-RUN AWAY
By lisa, 9/26/11
If you are considering this hotel for anything, RUN TO ANOTHER HOTEL. They TOTALLY RUINED my wedding weekend and have the gaul to not step up and acknowledge it, but yet charged me. The ONLY thing we liked about this hotel was the two staff workers from the restaurant helping during our Rehearsal Dinner. We had an out of town wedding and we all stayed here. As the bride and groom, we were put in a room that smelt like RAW SEWAGE. We had a corner room and were then stuffed in an inside room. Furthermore we had to ask to be moved a day later even after they were told about the smell and we had to move ourselves. The hospitality room had DIRTY tablecloths which we asked to be changed and we received a facial expression and a "What, do you really want me to change them" comment from the staff. Guest making reservations were told over a dozen times there was either no wedding there under our name or no roooms when a block of rooms were held five months prior to event. There is NO COMMUNICATION between the sales staff and the front desk. You were lucky if your reservation was there when you arrived. I was told my guests would be all at one side of the hotel; however they were not. One couple was put in the smoking section clearly on the other side of the other guests and they would not move them. We were given a hospitality room scheduled for the night we arrived; however the front desk knew nothing about it. We had to wait until after noon the next day to get into the room to set up. We missed participating in several events because of this. Carpets left your feet black so don't walk in bare feet. They did not clean my room the day of my wedding so we came back to the room in shambles. Bed not made, no towels, etc. Just what the bride wants to do the night of her wedding, clean her hotel room, call for more towels, etc. They were even suppose to put out strawberries and the champagne, yet it was still in the fridge when we arrived in the room. I personally made up Pittsburgh bags for each of my guests which were very expensive. We were given a list of which rooms they were in and a key. We were given a wrong room and the staff WOULD NOT GO AND RETREIVE THE BAG from them. Upon check out, they put charges on my bill for another room in my party. I asked them to remove the charges and it was not the guests fault that the hotel MESSED UP so I asked KELLY THE MANAGER NOT TO CHARGE THEM; she told me that she WOULD NOT CHARGE THEM; however later I was at the desk and they were charging my other guest. I confronted her and she said nothing. Upon checking out I asked Kelly for ALL MY CHARGES they applied to my Credit Card. She provided me with three pieces of paper (room charges (2 pages) and for the Rehearsal Dinner). I approved these charges yet when I checked my CC bill later there were several other charges on the bill from this hotel. I was APPAULED of how they could charge something that WAS NOT APPROVED BY ME. They just kept charging and charging. We filed a complaint with the corporate office and per their policies the General Manager is to return your call within 3 days. It has been two weeks and NO CALL. I can continue with stories, but I think you have the idea - DO NOT STAY HERE OR HAVE AN EVENT HERE. THIS HOTEL HAS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO COMMUNICATION, LACK OF RESPECT, LAZY PEOPLE, ETC. They all need to be FIRED.

What a difference a year makes
By homeowner1984, 9/8/11
My family and I stayed at this hotel for the air show in Sept. 2010 and had a wonderful experience. They even sent us directions on how to get around the road closings for the air show ahead of time. This year was a different story. We were given room 148, which is right next to the lobby. The room had a weird musty smell which we couldn't get rid of, even after buying a bottle of fabreze. Also, I kept turning down the thermostat to cool the room, but I think it was broken. The thermostat read 65, but we were sleeping with no blankets on. To top it off, there was a wedding there, so being right next to the lobby and the front door, the noise was deafening. Outside our window were loud drunk people for most of the night. I went out to the front desk to see if anything could be done about the room and no one was even there. I went back to my room, gathered up my family and we left at 1:30AM.

Not a place to get sleep
By Matt, 8/13/09
If you want a night's sleep this isn't for you. The beautiful lobby is all tile & rock which is stunning to see but carries voices and echos throughout the entire hotel. I was across the hotel lobby and could hear the people in the bar! The facility is not secured until 11PM which means all the doors are open to everyone - including locals who broke into the vending machines as I was walking by (yes I reported it but the thief was gone before staff arrived). The room had clump of hair in the sink and the carpets were dirty with grit. Management made compensations but were limited because of a wedding taking place. Weddings mean howling in the cavernous lobby at 2AM to see who is the loudest. Staff's reply when I called to complain was "We're aware of it". Oh and if you are looking for the dripping noise, it's probably the condensation unit in the wall for the air conditioning.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. MOSTLY IF A SMOKER
By MS., 5/7/09
The room was a smoking room.. BUt even a smoker was having trouble.. even WITH WINDOWS OPEN AND 2 cans of lysol later ALSO candles it still smelled.. The frint desk was called and asked if all smoking rooms were that bad. THE RUDE MAN SAID " I SUPPOSE SO. THEY ARE SMOKING ROOMS". even the bedding was foul of smoke odor. I was told this was a fabulous place a few years ago. MUST HAVE CHANGED HANDS. The maids couldnt even understand english enough to give me a towel. Are they legal??? FOR THE PRICE.. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE !!!!!! WHAT A WASTE OF WHAT COULD BE A FABULOUS HOTEL !!!!!!!!! the inside looks wonderful. till you open a room door... i asked others on my floor. they had the same odors. HOW HARD IS IT TO OPEN THE DOOR AND A WINDOW WHILE CLEANING.. FRESH AIR DOES EVERYTHING GOOD !!!!!

Not at all clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/18/08
Way below the normal level of Embassy Suites cleanliness. No matter where one looks, the hotel just wasn't clean at all: trash cans overflowing in public areas, trash at doorways not picked up for days,--not a pleasant experience becaue one just couldn't excape the dirt, especially in public areas.

Not clean and low service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/07
For a hotel that charges over $100 a night, it should be a bit cleaner. After our kids ran around the hotel room for an hour their feet were black with dirt, we found hair in the bathtub, and don't even think of looking behind the nightstand. The bed was comfortable and spacious as was the refrigerator in the room. The nightly Manager's Reception was nice for the free drinks, but the food was lacking. Breakfast in the morning was well organized and had plenty of choices along with friendly cooks. Overall, I would not stay here again with my family as it is not worth more then $89/night due to lack of cleanliness and services.

Excellent hotel!
By Scott, 10/13/05
This Embassy Suites is probably one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed at. The hotel has country themed exterior with swings and rocking chairs on the porch for guests to enjoy. Inside is a very beautiful atrium lobby with a pond and waterfall, which contains fish. The large indoor pool and outdoor hot tub are relaxing too. It is such a nice hotel, but I wish that it was closer to downtown Pittsburgh. That is the only complaint I have about the Embassy Suites. I would highly recommend this outstanding hotel to others staying in the area.

We even live near this hotel
By Mary Ann, 6/10/05
Embassy Suites is a great place to relax and unwind. Even though we live about 5 miles from this hotel, we love to go there for getaway weekends and relax and enjoy the facilities. Great breakfast and manager's reception also.
