What a memorable weekend!
By Angela, 08/27/09
My husband and I finally got away for a romantic weekend and we were NOT disappointed. The staff were both helpful and attentive, the accommodations clean and spacious, and the location was super. At dinner we enjoyed a Jamaican band, followed by Hawaiian shaved ice at Pier Village, and we topped the evening off with Greek coffee and baklava. Also, lying on the beach under a palm tree afforded me a luxury hard to come by in NJ.

Highly Disappointed! Do Not Get Married Here
By Rachel, 05/27/09
We decided to have our wedding at this hotel, the views are beautiful and we wanted a beach wedding. The wedding coordinators are terrible, ineffecient, forgetful and unprofessional. It would take weeks for them to get back to us, they changed their stories repeatedly and would agree to one thing one day and then decide against it later. This hotel caused me more aggravation than I needed and getting married there became a serious task more than an enjoyable occasion. Don't do it to yourself. Find another place and do yourself a favor.

Quick Staff Turnover
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/10/09
Our wedding was held at this hotel. From the time we booked the wedding until the actual event, we had more than 5 different planners and they were all inexperienced and forgetful. Anyone planning a wedding here should check, recheck and recheck the details numerous times to make sure that your event is what you were planning. The staff also promised to do certasin things and right before our event, they had excuses for not following through. The general manager also had a litany of excuses for the poor performance of his staff. The ocean view is pretty but the beachfront area is unkempt. The manager of the grounds keeps a low profile, lest he be asked to work. The food is typical wedding fare. It is a shame because this hotel has so much potential. They need to clean house and bring in real professionals who know how to run a hotel and large banquets.

Nice, But Needs Improvement
By Stardestroyer, 12/29/08
The building itself was nice, though there were some signs of wear. I was dissappointed by the fact that there was no Wifi, even after they said they would "fix" the problem. Also, they had a weird policy, that you could not take a luggage trolley up to your room on Saturday without a member of staff accompanying you, which means my companion and I had to bring our things down by ourself, as there was a limited number of carts. The staff was friendly, but not knowledgeable, nor overly helpful. I would stay here again, but only if they actually fixed the Wifi problem and had some staff that had any idea about the service industry. The location was amazing.

Not Ready for Prime Time
By DP, 03/16/08
We’re just back from what was meant to be a three-day weekend where one of us needed connectivity to be able to work. We treble checked with the American Express and with the hotel to make certain there was wireless in our room. This was essential for us to be able to “take a long weekend off.” We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were taken to a room with a less than stellar view and no wireless. We called the front desk and were promptly taken to another room, perfect view, but still no wireless. We spent the better part of our first 24 hours going back and forth with the front desk who offered silly solutions such as “try calling our tech support company” (they were closed for the weekend) or “you’re welcome to come down to the lobby to email” or “we’re not sure what the problem might be.” After they suggested we move to a much smaller room that might have wireless (this would have marked the third time in two days we would have had to switch rooms) we just gave up. What was really maddening more than the lack of wireless was the complete and utter disregard on the part of the staff for the inconvenience this had posed. And they took absolutely no ownership of the problem in the way of calling back to check on us to see if the wireless situation had been resolved. Only if we called again and again would they even accept that there might be a problem with their system. When we finally called American Express Platinum Travel to see if they could intervene, the desk sent a small cheese tray and a low-end bottle of wine which we did not open. Perhaps because it is off-season they didn’t have their A-Team in place but the level of service and caring exhibited by the staff made us wish we’d stayed at a Marriott or one of the mid-tier chains where we wouldn’t have expected much. Which is precisely what we got here. A spa and resort this is not.

New Year's Eve, ho hummmmm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/26/08
From the room the view is lovely, but the whole evening was not what I had thought it would be like for a New Year's celebration. The waiting staff could of cared less if we were satisfied or not. The food was very salty and cold. When it was time for champagne to be brought to the tables to toast the New Year, I had to go find the waitress so that we could get some. The comedian was good. It was over priced to say the least. We will not be returning. Danceongirl

Won't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/07
The spa services were below par. I received a rash on my face after the massage because the masseuse was so rough when my face was down on the table. The food in the hotel was awful-salty and not cooked correctly.

4 Star Rating but 3 or 2 Star Quality
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/07
Location is excellent (Pier Village shops/restaurants)but definitely over priced and not deserving of a 4 star rating. Location does not totally make up for limited view of ocean, poor housekeeping - dirty and shabby carpets; cramped convenience store in lobby; not enough dining options within hotel, poor service with respect to informing guest of available amenities that are included in daily rate. Not sure I would stay overnight again but would probably go for the spa treatments and the pub (server was pleasant attentive and professional). Ocean Place needs some real competition.
