BEST WESTERN Beach Dunes Inn, Marina

Nice location, but they lost my reservation it took 30 + minutes to check in. Drama with a guest, cops were called. Potential guests left. Clerk was nice, but slow. Not enough disabled parking. Towels were such poor quality that they didn't absorb. Lighting was poor in the room. Two bulbs burnt out. Walls thin, we could hear convesations of guests upstairs and a room over. Stains on mattress. Coffee condiments but no coffee pot. I made my reservations a week in advance and had a confirmation number. Second day we left early to the beach and came back to shower and go to Carmel, but the room wasn't cleaned yet and no clean towels and it was after 2p.m. I don't think we will stay again.

We stayed during August 07. The hotel is actually set back a fair ways from the beach but you can walk across the road through a complex to reach it. The hotel offers a fair price for the location right off HWY 1, HOWEVER, be careful about the room you get. Ours was right next to where everyone pulls in for check-in downstairs. The rooms are clean, but the walls are PAPER THIN. The bathroom is really, really squeezed on space also. I spent most of the night listening to a conversation next door and above me. I could almost make out every word they said. The place was fully booked, so we probably had the last room when we arrived. The breakfast is OK but nothing outstanding - the usual coffee, cereals, donuts, toast, fruit, but nothing close to a waffle making machine. The hot tub was clean and it was right outside our room - that could be a problem with noisy folks, but we never had that issue because of closing hours....good idea! I recommend to folks for price & location but keep noise factor in mind if you want a good nights rest as well.

The rooms are very outdated, teal carpet and white washed furniture. I had a loose window banging against the window frame that kept me up most of the night, and the continental breakfast was a joke,(a tray of old cookies)I would not stay here again.

Price is reasonable and close to CSUMB to see our daughter. Nice walk to the beach and quiet for relaxation. Service was available whenever needed.

The hotel was so lovely. They had a full breakfast with a comfortable seating area. The rooms were large and beds were comfy. The room were clean and it was such a wonderful stay. I would recomend this hotel to any and everone
