BEST WESTERN PLUS Placerville Inn, Placerville

THIS HOTEL NEEDS A OVERHALL FROM MANAGEMENT TO THE STRUCTURE! VERY DIRTY, RUDE SERVICE AND OVER PRICED! DO NOT STAY HERE! BUYER BE WARNED!

This is our 2nd time staying here and we only stayed here the 2nd time since it was close to Apple Hill. Both stays were not good. The first time we had to keep switching rooms because the heater did not work in any of them. The rooms were not very clean both stays. The second time our party consisted of 2 rooms. We wanted adjoining rooms but the lock on one room was broken off and the door couldn't lock. It was very sketchy to us. Once in the room you would think that the door was locked but all you had to do was turn the handle from the outside and you were in our room! Seemed to us that someone had previously broken into that room and lucky for them, they had access to 2 rooms since they were adjoining. When we complained the maintenance staff had no idea how to re-program the door so we had to move to another room. They claimed they didn't have any other adjoining rooms so we had to get 2 regular rooms. This was dissapointing as we wanted the rooms connecting. The TV didn't work in 1 room and the other room you had to get up to turn the TV to the correct channel and turn it on/off. The maintenance staff didn't know how to fix this problem either. They came in and out of our room for an hour trying to fix it. It never got fixed. We did notice some bugs in the room and we could tell the floor had not been vacuumed. When we complained the next day about how dissapointed we were in our stay they had us fill out a complaint form. The lady at the desk also notified us that they indeed had more adjoining rooms available. The woman from the night before just didn't tell us that. After speaking with the manager on the phone once home, he offered us a discount on the room the next time we stay there. They should have not charged for one room and apologized. It was just a dissapointment as you would expect much more from a huge chain like Best Western.

Walls seem to be paper thin. We (family of 4) were on a ground floor room and the person above us seemed to be getting and walking throughout the night and it was very noisy. Beds were OK, roll-away was VERY springy and very uncomfortable. Location was good as it was a short drive to the American River where we went rafting. Complimentary breakfast was poor - hard bolied eggs, cold cereals, DIY waffles (good idea bu waffles stuck to waffle-maker) - we opted for Denny's down the road, woth the extra $20. I would not recommend this hotel.

Not what I expect from Best Western nor for the money, $89 which is advertised rate but also the discounted rate I was quoted for AAA or AARP. Key card wouldn't work on outside door so I had to walk around to the office every time I entered, I finally started knocking on the "employees only" door. Rude service from desk clerk to mgr. to housekeeping who knocked on my door at 9 a.m. BEFORE I had checked out. Complimentary breakfast is a joke, even the orange juice which tasted like colored water. Room had bugs; mgr tried to say they were ants but I think I know what ants look like. Don't stay here. One star is too much.

We checked in to a ground floor room with a non-functional lock on the window leading out to the hill adjacent to the freeway. They offered to give us the room next door, but the room itself was dingy and a little creepy so we opted for a different hotel.

1) The hot tub was run amuck with small children. 2) the headboard in our room 222 was against an outside wall next to the heavy entrance doors which slammed ALL night. 3)The building structure transmitted every noise from people walking to slamming doors.We got little sleep and no time in the hot tub after traveling.We complained to the mgr and got a tepid sorry.For $164 a night(what AAA)discount?!this was terrible.

BEST WESTERN IS A RIP OFF. WE STAYED AT BEST WESTERN SAT. OCT 28, 2006. THE ROOM WAS WAY TO MUCH MONEY. $179.00 A NIGHT. THE ROOM HAD NO TOWELLS. THE BED HAD STAINS ON THE SHEET. THE COFFEE MAKER AND BLOW DRYER DID NOT WORK. PLUS THE HOT TUB WAS BROKEN. FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE PAID I EXPECTED A NICE PLACE NOT A DIVE AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF THE FREE BREAKFAST WAS TERRIBLE (CANNED FRUIT COCKATIEL). TAKE MY ADVICE KEEP ON DRIVING!

When trying to pay for the room at check in we were told that we could not pay in cash without a $100.00 deposit. Also the TV in our room did not work and the repair man made it clear to us that he " did not want to replace it unless it was absolutely necessary". When being told it was necessary he went in the hall and proceeded to complain in a rude way to the front desk about having to fix the problem loud enough for us to hear with the door shut. We also had a problem with the Iron that left deposits on my white shirt I was to wear to a wedding( including my friend in another room actually taking the iron from his room down to show them it was broken and leaked all over his shirt). They did not even blink just collected the money and moved on to the next person. The room was clean and they did let us have a one hour early check in.

If your handicaped the only option you have is the second floor. A three story inn with no elevators. Room had nice window table but only one chair. Room was comfortable and quite.

I read previous reviews, but the choices are somewhat limited around this area. The person working the front desk was pathetic. My room's internet connection wouldn't work. It took five trips to the front desk to try new cables.... The person tells me it's my system citing how he worked for IBM and he just knows the problem is on my end. I finally persuaded him to let me try another connection in a different room, and what do you know it worked. There was no apology or anything. The Best Western web site quotes $89 rooms, but they are $109. The halls smelled of paint thinner. The worst Best Western I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a lot. Don't go. Tell your friends not to go. Don't make the same mistake I did.
