Great place for families
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/26/08
My parents, by brother and his wife, and my wife and I were here the first part of March for 7 days and 7 nights. We stayed here because room for 3 couples. The condo we were in was very nice, comfortable, and had excellent service. While we were always busy during the day, my wife and I would walk down to the beach. While it was a little walk, it was perfect for early morning walks. We went hot tubbing on our last night. The fairway pool, the hot tub was too hot, but the other pool was good. We never cooked on the grills, but they looked to be in good condition. We did cook a few meals in the condo. It had everything we needed. The view of the ocean from the main lanai was awesome, and we had no problem seeing whales from that distance. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay.

Exceeded our expectations!
By Jeanne Baughman, 3/18/08
We just returned from two weeks in unit #42 of Grand Champions which we rented directly from the owners. Their website showed the beautiful remodel, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, the large lanai with table, umbrella, six chairs PLUS lounge chairs - but the pictures can't do justice to the panoramic ocean view! It was spectacular - we spent a lot of time there relaxing and whale watching! The unit is the largest floor plan with two spacious and beautifully furnished master suites. We could walk to shops and restaurants easily, or drive just a few minutes to great beaches. We were impressed with the grounds keepers, and the attention to details around the pools and barbeque areas. They are always clean. Our experience was extremely positive and I'm happy to share the information!

LOVE Grand Champions!
By PickyTraveler, 3/9/08
We went to Maui in Oct. '07. We rented directly through the owner, which allowed us to see lots of pictures of the unit we stayed in. I felt comfortable dealing directly through the owner, and not a company that wanted to assign me a room without me seeing where we'd be staying. In this age of the internet, those days are gone, where you go in blindly, and hope for the best. I found going directly to the owner also saved us money. #166, had a view of the golf course and the ocean. The furniture was new and comfortable. The carpets had been replaced the week before we arrived. I was most impressed with the fact that it was clean, and had a feeling of someone's home, and not some forgotten rental. The grounds are well-maintained. The complex is quiet, and away from the road noise we had experienced in another complex, on a previous trip. I enjoyed the fact that there is a "quiet" pool, and a family pool. We all enjoyed the nearby beaches, and were glad we had a car to travel and see different places. Nightly walks found us at Lappert's for ice cream, in the shops at Wailea. The weather was beautiful. While we were there, we met another family who was staying in a unit across the way. Their unit was also nicely decorated. But, they mentioned that their previous trip had them staying in a unit that was outdated. So, I am guessing that if you take the time to narrow down your choices to units you find attractive, you will enjoy your stay as well.

AWFUL- CAN I HAVE MY $ BACK
NO SERVICE AVAILABLE CARPETING IS FADED AND STICKY. SILK PLANTS ALL OVER THE UNIT ARE CONSIDERED DUST COLLECTORS INSTEAD OF DECORATIONS. OUR ALLERGIES GOT WORST. COUCH IS STAINED AND OLD FORGET ABOUT USING THE TOWELS OR YOU'LL SMELLED WORST THAN BEFORE TAKING SHOWER...USE PAPER TOWELS INSTEAD. BIG ROACHES IN THE SHOWER ROOM- MAKES YOU WONDER WHAT ELSE CRAWLS WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING. REFRIGERATOR STAYED AJAR. MICROWAVE HAS CRACKS INSIDE. NO AIRCONDITIONING UNIT IN THE BEDROOMS. WE COULDN'T ENJOY THE VIEW FROM LANAI- THERE'S A BIG CONSTRUCTION, NOISY VEHICLES AND CONSTANT POUNDING GOING ON.

Simply beautiful!
By First, 1/30/06
We stayed at Grand Champions Villas unit #120 in January. Because it was our first trip to Maui, we were uncertain about what to expect. What we found exceeded our expectations. Everything in the condo was first class. It was clean, bright and beautifully decorated. The kitchen, with its granite countertops and stainless appliances, was great. And the condo was located very near the most beautiful beaches. Shops and restaurants are close by. The building itself is quiet and the grounds are fabulous. We will certainly go again next year! The owners were very nice to deal with too.

this is a five star resort?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/05
My family and I just returned from Maui on June 13th, we had a wonderful vacation. The grounds of the villas were beautiful. The pools were VERY well taken care of and we enjoyed a lot of time there. Unfortunatley the unit that we stayed in was not what we were hoping for. I have stayed in a lot of nice places around the world and normally when they advertise a five star rating I know what to expect. Unfortunatley this hotel did not meet my expectations. Our unit was nice and large in a great quiet location but left much to be desired. Simple kitchen items were missing and when we requested them from house keeping we were only supplied with a few items. We had to purchase our own salad bowl, scicors, cheese grator and another chair for the deck amongst other items. There were 4 people staying there but we were only given 3 chairs. The beds were horribly uncomfortable and the pillows were useless. We did still have a wonderful vacation but I felt that I was misled about the quality of the hotel. I was aware that the units varied because they are all individually owned however there should be a minimum standard met by all of the units.

I can’t imagine staying anywhere else.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/05
This condo gave us a view of paradise on earth! Clean and roomy and the grounds were immaculate . . . probably the prettiest we encountered while on Maui. I spent most of my time on the balcony looking at the beautiful golf course and that breath taking Pacific Ocean. At around 4am I would go out to the balcony (with my blanket . . . burrrr . . . I loved it) with my book and turn on the porch light and read. I couldn’t sleep away my time here. I watched some type of deer (of course it’s very dark) that would come out of the mountains and feed on the golf course. First time I heard them (around 4:30am) it scared me. I watched the sun come up every morning from that balcony. We really enjoyed our stay here and the only negative was I couldn’t get the coffee pot to work.

Check for hidden charges
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/8/05
My 5 member family stayed here 3/04. The condo was bright and airy with 2 TV's 2 bedrooms and very clean with great service. My only complaint would be that Destination resorts charged us an extra $25.00 a day for our 5th person even though we booked a package on the internet with, of course, 5 plane tickets. The condo slept 6 but the charge was supposedly for the extra towels and sheets for the sofa bed. We had a very enjoyable week with just that one little hitch. The parking is easy with the shops at Wailea a short walk away. The extra charge left a bad taste in my mouth considering they knew full well there would be 5 people staying there.
