Summit Silicon Valley Hotel, San Jose

I originally chose this place for the location. It would have been worth driving many extra miles to not have had the experience of staying there for two nights last week. a. You know those Breathe-Right nasal strips? The bedspread in my room had them(yes, more than one) stuck all over it. I asked for a clean bedspread, but no... b. Trash was not emptied, nor were towels replenished. Actually, I am not sure if the room was serviced at all on the second day there. When I asked for the trash to be emptied, they brought towels. But no trash bag. c. Two of the lamps and the bathroom had missing light bulbs. d. I have been charged for the room. My company has also been charged for the room, for the same nights. When I called to have the situation remedied, I was told that they were too busy to take my call, and to call back later. It has been a week, and the situation has not been fixed. Really, drive from anywhere else if you have to...

This is my first and last time staying at this property. The hallways and rooms are noticeablely aged. When I got into my room, I noticed the toiletries were ALL USED. I mean half empty. There were also dried up crusts around the edges of the cap. The towels had several stain spots. The shower head was so clogged with calcium build up that there is barely any water coming out. I called the front desk and asked the toiletries to be replaced. They agreed to send someone up to replace them but never did. The gym has an isolation machine but poorly assembled, so that it feels very insecure like it’s going to fall apart. My sleep was also disrupted by neighboring guest showering. You can hear the loud rattling sound of the plumbing pipes when the water is running. This hotel is in such crappy state, it barely meets my 2-star standard. For the price, you are better off staying at the Holiday Inn by the airport on N First St, which actually feel like a 3-star property.
