What do people want?
By Larry, 4/25/12
My wife and I have visited many all- inclusive resorts and I can say quite honestly this is one of the best. When people complain about the food at the Doubletree it is obvious to me they have not been to many all- inclusives. Simply put the food is excellent. The staff is also a positive, everyone went out of their way to be helpful. But I have to say the complient I read on some reviews that is the most ridiculous is the complaint that people spoke Spanish! Duh! it's a Spanish speaking country. If you must have everyone speaking English I would suggest you try to find an all-inclusive beach resort in Kansas.

Best Vacation Destination!
By kessleen b, 3/5/12
Was there last year loved it so much that we are going back in a few short weeks. Went March 2011, my husband, 12 yr old son and myself. We stayed in building 3 in a double bed garden view. Loved the food and entertainment. We were in awe with all the food that was out and no bugs. We have been on many vacations to many places and that was the 1st food outside with no bugs. This year will be just myself and my husband staying in the king suite- will update when we get back! Last year we used Varso Travel (which is located across the street from the doubletree) for a guided tour to Jaco beach, shops, see crocs, and to visit the monkey lady also went on a zipline event over waterfalls. This year we are going to the rainforest and the arenal volcano.

We've stayed in the past and loved it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/10
It's a really great place to stay especially if you have children. I've been to Costa about 15 times and still want to go back because there is alot I didn't get to do. Many of the people complaining about this hotel, I'm sure, have never really travelled and experienced a third world country, which Costa Rica is still. It doesn't matter if the hotel name is Hilton or not, it's still a third world country at a hotel with a discounted rate with tons of ammenities at your disposal. If you are going to the hotel and not seeing the country, eating out at local restaurants, going into towns, you will NEVER experience Costa Rica. If you are looking to be waited on with "service" head to toe you should maybe try 'La Mansion' or 'El Parador' in Manuel Antonio National Park south of Quepos. Rooms are not going to be perfect in any hotel in a third world country, neither are the beds. I have travelled to other third world countries which ave alot less. In the United States we are spoiled by super plush soft beds and perfect, pretty much everything. Just learn to enjoy Costa Rica and what it has to offer, it's beautiful landscape and people, if you're nice to them, they will be more than nice and generous to you. I would recommend this place to anyone, and don't forget to see the country

One visit is enough
By Heather, 9/19/09
This place is deceptive. The grounds are absolutely beautiful but once you enter the resort building (Hotel Fiesta, not the Double Tree Hotel) you've entered a cheap motel. There you have dull lighting in the halls, dull tiling, old furniture, old time bulky small sceen TV, dingy linen and towels, and doors that are old and stained with dirt. The maids do not give washcloths, even when requested. The whole place is geared towards Spanish speaking folks. If this is a resort that expects to serve people from all over the world it should be set up accordingly. Hardly anyone speaks English and if they do, it is very limited. All the entertainments - the music and the shows are in Spanish. The food is horrible - tasteless. There is no variety in the food they serve. Everything is a Spanish meal. Maybe I consider it tasteless because I'm not accustom to it; nonetheless, I did not enjoy it. People are everywhere. The dinighall is like a huge food warehouse - no class to it, you can't enjoy the food, even if it was tasty - too crowded and extremely busy and noisy with a whole lot of little children running all over the place. The place is extremely crowded. Sometimes I feel like I'm downtown Manhattan.

This resort is a dump!
By Rosemarie, 9/16/09
Hotel Fiesta, now known as Double Tree resort has 2 sides - Double Tree Hotel (which is nice) and the Resort side. I came here from the US on vacation and was placed on the resort side, not the hotel. The place is a dump-The doors don't close properly and they are very dingy, the bed feels as if you are sleeping on a plank of wood covered with a blanket, the hallways are very poorly lit, the walls are dingy, the linens are thin and dingy, the rooms are dark, furniture is old, TV is the archaic bulky TV only 19 inches in size. The first room they gave me smelled like mold and must. I'm allergic to mold so we had to move. The second room flooded. The hot water pipe burst while we were out at a show.

Excellent Resort, Bad Food
By Pat, 12/2/08
My wife and I enjoyed 5 nights in November 2008. The serivce and accomidations were excellent, 4 1/2 stars. The food was 1 1/2 stars with the exception of the Italian Dining. Overall, great pools and drinks

All-Inclusive is where its at..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/08
I booked this trip through a travel agent and it was relatively affordable when staying with another person. The grounds were beautiful. The pools were nice. The walk up bars were awesome. The staff was very friendly and helpful (spoke english even though it is a spanish speaking country). There were tons of fun activities to enjoy if you wanted to stay at the resort. If you wanted to go to an off-site tour the staff helped you book it and helped with any suggestions (Taru Ba Ri i think is the place where we did the zipline canopy tours and superman stomach harness zipline--awesome)...Buffets were offered from breakfast till about 2am (either snack or reg. food)...Had a great trip!!!! Only thing that stinks is people drive crazy there and the roads stink...

I can't wait to go back!
By Jeremy, 2/7/08
I liked everything this hotel had to offer and I expecially liked the bar in the pool, and I also liked the fact that it is an all exclusive place, all food and drinks are included iin the price.

Good for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/08
AC broken we were imformed of that when we opened the door with a note as well no or little hot water all week. Food was cold by the time you got through the lines to fill plate and got back to your table. Plus near the end of the week the food was the same . We booked this vaca 5 hours prior to being on the plane for 900$ so the price was right . Costa rica was beautiful rented a car even though most staff and tour reps were instructed to put the fear of god into you about leaving the resort( not safe ) even the guy at the security booth would tell us past 150 meters not safe. I told him not to worry I had a gun LOL use internet across road much cheaper then hotel
