The Best
By ,
From my experience this is the only place to stay when going to Disneyland. I've seen other travel sites rate this a 4.5 out of 5 with hundreds of reviews. I have stayed there a few times now and am going back again in the very near future. The rooms are clean with nice decor, the grounds are well kept, and the price can't be beat. The resort is located a bit off to the side so it's not on the main strip or busy roads where it's super noisy. The short walk is the best! A couple of blocks, a nice walk with minimal streets to cross, and you're at the gate. But they have a shuttle if you just want to ride. They let dogs stay for a deposit, so the whole family can go. Combine that with Disney's Kennel Club where our pup stays comfortably while we have a little fun, and it's the best! I recommend this especially for families. Cook (easy stuff or steak dinners :) and save money on food. The kitchens are great and I love the welcome basket they leave with snacks and stuff. They even have a little store inside the lobby with groceries if you forgot something or they go shopping for you. Okay, and free breakfast buffet, deem this the most economical stay at Disneyland. We use our AAA discount. All in all, it's the BEST. Haven't had a bad experience yet. Have fun! :)

Great Place for a Family Stay!!!
By ,
The location is very near to places of interest like Disneyland, Knot's Berry Farm, California Adventures and shopping. Very well trained staff, esp in the front desk. Good amenities for the kids the pool, jacuzzi, playing courts and the BBQ grill & picnic area and mini playground. We had a great buffet breakfast which vary everyday. The free wifi was good to get my emails regularly and chat with family & friends back home and sharing our pictures in Facebook. The rooms was very spacious with complete kitchen amenities, dining table, living room with sofa bed, 1 bedroom with two queen size bed, big bathroom, fire place, two big LCD TV and and ambiance of a 4 star hotel ... in short this was a Great Place to Stay for a family of 5. We highly recommend this place for family's planning to visit Disneyland Anaheim. Thanks you Residence Inn / Marriott Anaheim. (Philippines)

It was a fabulous family vacation!
By ,
Room was a mini-suite with two queen beds a sitting area with TV and a full kitchen. The room was great with room service everyday. And, the kids loved the pool area. We especially liked the BBQ and grounds. We had a great time and plan on returning. Plus, we got free full breakfast!

Hassle-free vacationing!
By ,
We stayed for 3 nights and the staff helped to make it a memorable time for our little one. Besides being within walking distance from Disneyland, it's also close to I-5 and major stores which made it easy for us to run errands and do non-Disney stuff. The place was clean and well maintained. To give you an example, the night we arrived, we stayed at a hotel across from the Disneyland maingate. We left after one night because of lack of service, noisey a/c, run-down condition of the room, etc. to stay at the Residence Inn and we're glad we made that move. It saved our vacation! It was a dive in comparison to our suite at the Residence Inn. The walls were a bit thin because we could hear our neighbors on occasion but you have to expect that considering this hotel caters to families with young kids. However, nothing ever got out of hand because most parents watch over their kids for irresponsible behavior. We came back late one night and we noticed that security was on patrol, watching over vacationers' vehicles/safety. That's attention to detail you don't always find elsewhere. BEWARE: this hotel is not for penny-pinching people who only want to spend $20/night at the Y. However, if your goal is top value, you can do a lot of shopping around and be hard pressed to find another hotel that provides more value than this hotel. We're certainly going to look for Residence Inn when vacationing in the future.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!
By ,
This was a terrible hotel. We booked it after looking at tons of reviews on line and thought it would be a great place to stay. It was like staying in an old, dingy apartment complex. We had 6 people in our party (3 adults, 3 kids). The room was cramped and dirty. It looked like it hadn't been updated in years. They continually gave us 4 towels a day even after asking for more. We even ran out of toilet paper and had to wait 3 hours before they brought some. The A/C didn't work so we had to have the temp cranked down to 60 each night just to get it to come on. One day they didn't even come to clean our room until 5 pm. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Yes it is close to disneyland and you can take the Anaheim Transit, but if you are looking for a clean, decent place to stay for you and your family this is NOT the place to stay. Spend your money elsewhere.... This is Terrible!!

Wonderful Staff, Noisy & Disappointing Room
By ,
As I stated in other reviews, we have had the opportunity to stay at many of the area hotels, and this was one of them. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, although the room was not ready until well after the 4 pm check in time. Our one-bedroom suite was clean and spacious but dated. It included a dated kitchen area with a table and four chairs, perfect if you like to eat in your room. There was a living area with a couch, chair, table, TV and fireplace. This was by far the nicest room of the suite. The layout of the bedroom and bathroom were not very convenient. You had to go through the bedroom to get to the tiny, tiny bathroom, which did not work well for us since we get up before and go to bed after our children. The bathroom counter top had been updated and looked very nice, but the cabinet was old and was being held together in one place by staples. We jokingly called the room the Frankenstein Room. We planned to visit Disney that evening but instead decided to take a break and enjoy a calmer afternoon in our room since it was already so late. Those plans were given a serious blow when shortly after getting to our room the two boys in the room upstairs began jumping off of their bunk beds. This persisted for several hours that afternoon and also occurred the next morning beginning before 7 am. The building was also not soundly built as the sound from the boys running from room to room seemed to be magnified through the floors. All of the above may have been tolerable, except that the beds were worse than sleeping on the floor. You could feel every spring of the hard, cheap mattress through the one inch mat they placed atop it in an effort to make it more comfortable. Not one member of my family was well-rested the next morning, and we probably would have slept much better on the sofa and chair in the living area. One of the highlights of the stay was that breakfast was included in the stay. There was a limited selection of fruit, the ability to make Belgium waffles, a large bowl of yogurt (not individually packaged), bagels and items for breakfast burritos. Also, to get to breakfast the next morning we had to pass by the housekeeping carts, which we noticed had been staged with clean linens and such for the next days work. Somehow that was a little less than comforting to us. The name of the hotel is a bit misleading; it is not as close to Disney's main gate as it implies. For a comparable price there are other places where you could stay much more comfortably. You won't have the full kitchen, but you will have a small refrigerator, microwave, full breakfast and MUCH nicer accommodations. We cut our stay short and left the very next morning. After all, you can't enjoy Disney when you are overtired and grumpy, can you? : ) Unless you have to have a stove and refrigerator I would suggest a different hotel.

Beware!
By ,
The reason why I booked this hotel is because of all the wonderful reviews on this site and on yahoo. Here is my experience: Pro: The breakfast buffet was good. I woke up at 7:30am to get ready and headed there. Plenty of seats but people were already filling the place around 8:30am. The rooms were clean. Full kitchen, sofa, bed was comfortable, clean sheets and pillows. It was a 15 minute walk to Disneyland, but I would not suggest it because after a 13 hour walk all day at Disneyland you really don't want to walk back to the Residence Inn (long long blocks) at midnight! They had a lot of complimentary services for their guests. The good news ends here. Con: The hotel front desk staff. They are rude, unfriendly, and uninformed. This is a huge problem if you want your vacation stay to be free of problems for the price you pay. The first problem is the California Occupancy Tax which only applies to hotel guests in Anaheim, CA. When I saw a review about this, I called into the hotel and asked what it was. The girl answering the phones at the front desk said it was .06 cents a day for tourists. What it really was (which I found out when I got my estimated bill on the door knob) a 15% tax on top of your bill. Example: studio room $159, CA Occ Tax $23.85, and Tourist fee .06 cents a day. This would not have be a problem if I had been informed when I called in previously to ask. How would a tourist know, if the people working there did not even know! My estimate was $167.01 when I called in, what ended up to be was $182.91. The second problem with the staff was when I requested for late check out when I checked in. The guy at the front desk said he'll help me put in the request and I wouldn't have to call in the next morning to request for late check out. It ended up, he did not do it. When I spoke with the rudest manager ever, she said that it was not his fault. Maybe it was busy, maybe he forgot...and when I told her I was the only one in the lobby, it was still my fault. She continues on to say their studio rooms were fully booked and I did not have a request for late check out. She went on to say how amazing her staff was and nothing was their fault (so it was pretty much my fault for being a guest there). After 5 minutes of arguing, and when I said it wasn't my fault for him not putting the request in the computer for me, she finally honored my request and hung up on me. ***This was my boyfriend's birthday weekend and instead of just having the most carefree weekend for both of us, I had to deal with people who were incompetent, and points the finger back at the guest and say oh, its your own fault for being a tourist and not knowing the laws/policies that only applies to tourists visting Anaheim. Bottom Line: Although I loved the room, I refuse to stay at the Residence Inn Maingate in Anaheim ever again.

Nice Hotel According to a Travel Agent
By ,
I visited this hotel and thought the grounds were beautiful and the rooms seemed spacious. I also liked the sports court and the swimming pool. The breakfast and evening snacks are a BONUS!

Loved It!
By ,
The quiet beauty and resort-like setting with lush flowering vegetation were what impressed me first as we drove into the Residence Inn(Anaheim Maingate). The great family atmosphere was what impressed my 4 year old son. When we walked into our suite with kitchen, he exclaimed, "Is this our new home?" It was indeed for the 4 fabulous days we stayed there. After a day of standing in lines at the Disneyland rides, it was a pleasure to unwind in the pool & spa with other families. With a great breakfast buffet, snacks from 5-7pm(Mon-Thurs), free grocery shopping, friendly & accommodating staff and a host of other amenities, the hotel is a great oasis for families with children. We loved it!
