Bring earplugs. And noseplugs.
By james, 09/30/09
Last time I visited Springfield, I stayed at the Marriott, where I had a really good experience. This time it wasn't available, so I thought I would get similar quality from the Sheraton directly across the street. How wrong I was. If I had to pick one word to describe the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel, it would be LOUD. The guestroom doors are not insulated, and I spent half the night being woken up by loud conversations in the hallway. Worse still, the hotel is designed with all rooms facing an open atrium, so noise on any floor or in the lobby echoes throughout the entire hotel and through the flimsy doors. Add to this the fact that the internet access was so slow it was unusable (literally slower than dial-up), the shower never got hotter than lukewarm, and the guestroom smelled like sewage and looked like they had last been renovated in the '70s. Save yourself a lot of trouble and stay at the Marriott across the street instead.

Very nice rooms, excellent fitness facility that includes raquet ball and pool. At Peters Grille I highly recommend the filet and at the sports bar the chicken wings are awsome!!!

"CONFUSED"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/05
I spent a week here while working in town.. on the second day here , came back to my room after working 14 hours or so , to find a voice mail from the front desk telling me that my truck was parked in the owner of the hotels spot, and was going to be towed...(did I mention that the "VALET" had taken my truck two days eariler!!)..after a very nervous phone call to the front desk, and a 45 minute wait for a call back , I was told that my truck was all set...
Another problem with the hotel seems to be room keys, on TWO occasions during a 7 night stay, I was suprised to find my room key NOT working , and after a trip down to the lobby and was given a new key and was told "you're all set " after showing a picture ID. (you would think after the first time they would remember me)
All in all I would say there is some CONFUSION at the Springfield Sheraton!

This is a wonderful clean hotel - rooms comfortable, beds excellent, great food and lounge area. Only problem is with the reservation service at the front desk. I was there for 3 weeks working the BIGE. Reserved 3 rooms, when people went to check in always had a problem. Reservation desk lost reservations, told the guest did not have a room for that time, when they were reserved and paid for, would go up to room after working all day and the key to our room would not work. The reservation desk needs more training - they need to get it together or people, like our group, will not return. We come back every year and book 12 rooms for three weeks.

Tired and worn out
By Jim, 06/08/04
I stayed here in Oct of 2003 and have to say it was a major disappointment. I am Starwood Platinum and was given a truly bad room threadbare carpets and furniture-- the hotel was only about 25% full yet the place still barely could keep up with operations. The Club Lounge web access computer was tied up with employees checking to see what was on EBay. Good grief.

The management did finally apologize profusely and admitted, quite frankly, that the place was in rough shape. They were embarking on a major total room renovation last winter that was to transform the place. Perhaps its in much better shape now.
