Motel 6 North, Santa Maria

Okay, it's Motel 6, you can't expect too much more from it than a bed, a shower and a TV. But this one smelled like a pile of smelly socks -- like Fritos gone bad. Even worse, when we came back the second night (I should have moved to a different motel, but a parent had just died and I had other things on my mind,) our room key card didn't work. So I went up to the office and said "My card doesn't work." She merely asked me what room I was in and reswiped my card without checking my ID or anything (and she was a different clerk than when we checked in.) SO, if you're traveling alone, make sure you lock your doors!!! I could have very well told her the room number of the people that just left and had access to their room. Swell. Motel 6 or not, their rooms should not smell and they should provide a tad more security for their guests.
