Give it a pass
By mimom, 8/9/09
We liked the price and the breakfast, but the hotel is old and tired. The furniture in the room was old and scratched, the bathroom floor was worn, the pillows on the bed did not all have cases, and they weren't all that clean. The hallway was dingy with dirty carpets and there were houseflies in the room when we arrived. I was surprised at the number of businesspeople staying there, as it wasn't all that great. Had I not paid in advance, I would not have checked in. As it was, we left after the first night and went elsewhere for the second night.

What a nice little Gem!
By zenia, 5/12/09
we loved the comfy beds and the delicious breakfast options...especially the fresh waffles. The location was convenient for us because we wanted to shop downtown and visit relatives in the Valley. The front desk girl was very polite and helpful when we were asking about local restaurants. The only downside was that it was pretty busy I think because there was a parents weekend or graduation for one of the nearby colleges...we had to park at the very end of the lot because we checked in late.

great spot for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/14/07
I liked the breakfast choices...waffles were awesome...and I enjoying watching the moring news on the plasma TV in the lobby. The front desk staff were very friendly and made sure to ask if I needed anything in my room. The free wireless internet makes staying in touch much easier. The downtown location is close to everything (dining, bars, movies, shopping)I needed to reach. The only thing I didn't really like was that the meeting room was kind of small, but the dining area in the lobby was big enough for my needs but just not too private.

best value I've found
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/1/07
The service was excellent. The room was very comfortable. The location was extremely convenient. I frequently travel to Spokane for business and I usually have stayed at the Doubletree, but recently have stayed at this Howard Johnson on my most recent trips. The food is delicious and everything you might need is close by. The beds are super comfortable and the showers are very relaxing. The wireless internet is great. The staff is always smiling and willing to help. Compared to other downtown hotels, you can't beat the value. Free airport shuttle is extremely convenient also.
