Plantation Island Resort, Malololailai Island

the people, the resort, the location, the food, the staff, the fun!, there is not one single thing i regret about the trip! i LOVE IT ALL!!! :):) it's good for every type of person!

Plantation island resort location was beautiful, but resort run down, staff underpaid and unhappy, accomodation run down, fridge ancient, rusted badly and didn't shut at all. Breakfast was not a joy at Plantation resort, don't expect fresh tropical fruit or coconut, please don't order scrambled eggs (powdered eggs), bacon (not bacon), pancakes sit in your stomach all day, don't know what they were made from. Many activities planned were cancelled due to breakdowns, equipment not maintained. Obvious that money is not being put back into the resort to improve, update, upkeep or pay fair wages to staff. Please be careful, check if you have been told kids stay and eat free, because it isn't always the case. Try to take as much bottled water with you there as the water they provide in big water eskies smelt and looked bad. Take pegs, a toaster, something to wash and disinfect your crockery and utensils in your rooms, plenty of mozzie sprays, coils, etc. No TV, radio, internet expensive and slow. My daughter freaked because our freshly cleaned towels had green mould on them, so maybe bring your own. The crockery and utensils provided were unclean. Kettle very dubious. Coffee, tea and creamer provided were there for a while before we came. Bring your own. I think for the price of staying at Plantation resort and the quality of the food they provide is poor. Service was poor, but I don't blame the staff, they try the best they can. We didn't get to experience a lot of the activities because of equipment not working, very disappointing. The welcome to the resort was lovely, the send off was lovely, it is a shame that the bit in the middle was so disappointing, 7 days of disappointment and horrid breakfasts. The other negative reviews I read, I agree with and they were written a few years back, we just came back and it sounds the same. Please enjoy your holiday, but be prepared, I hope this helps you improve your stay.

We have been to Plantation Island for the past 12 years, and we just cant waite to get back the following year! The island has the nicest beach, the food is great the beachfront burea are the best. There are great activities to suite all. But most of all the Staff of Plantation Island are the most friendliest we have ever meet, as we have been to alot of other resorts in Fiji, but this one is the Best!!

Absolutely everything was perfect....we spent 10 days there and cant wait to go back!...in fact we did not want to leave...  The food, accommodation, activities and especially the relaxed happy atmosphere of the Resort made our holiday unforgettable. We attended a Wedding and if anyone wants to get married...we defiantly recommend this Resort - we did not have one hiccup...just perfect. Thank you. The staff were magnificent and always willing to help with anything… with a smile on their faces…makes you think about our stressed life in big cities and wondering if we are doing the right thing… The only disappointing factor of this lovely Resort is the Young European Owner and his young wife – Shame on you to treat your guests the way you did…not even a friendly wave, smile or even a smirk from this man or his wife …very sad….  Other than that….we will go back there any day….. 

we travelled to plantation 3 times . we absolutely loved it . our children 6 & 11 had an unforgetable experience . the service , food , activities , kids club and entertainment were all fantastic ! we highly recommend this place to all , young and all . the resort has such a perfect layout ! while our stay , we also had access to visit 2 of the neighbouring resorts which were walking distance ! cant wait to visit again .

This was our second holiday on Plantation Island,our first holiday October 2007 for 5 nights,we were so happy with the service,accommodation, food and the staff we returned again October this year for longer.The Island is just so relaxing and the kids loved the kids club and the fantastic staff ,I would highly recommend to anyone.We will definetly be returning.

my wife and i went for our honeymoon there.....its really a nice place..the atmosphere is tremendous.........and really surrounded by nature beautiful place

Our family went to Plantation last year for 7 days and we loved it. The laid back ambience of the resort really suited us,we didnt want the whole snooty resort type thing. The kids then aged 15,12, and 9 just loved it all (we hardly saw them - they all went off and made new friends) and have begged and pleaded with us to go back there, in spite of being offered some other options. So back we go in April next year. Only thing we found not so good was the quality of the snorkelling equipment, the masks and snorkels tended to leak and all really needed replacing. However since they were all free to hire, cant moan. Will take our own next time. Also the para-sailing boat was out of action through mechanical probs and we'd been looking forward to that but hopefully this time round. Staff just beautiful and we loved all the cheerful singing accompanying everything. I agree with other comments that this is only a 3 star resort so dont expect 5 star surroundings. Go there and enjoy!

My family and i have just returned from plantation island. We had the best time. Lots of fun activities for both the kids and us parents. The staff were amazing so friendly and welcoming especially with our chidlren. They all made us feel special. The kids club was great different activities everyday and a great set up. The food was divine a huge selection on the menu and so fresh. None of us wanted to come home and will denfinatly return in the future.

Bula! (Hello) I have been to Plantation twice and I am going back again 2009. The best time to go is definately in January, there are no mozzies, flies or insects to annoy you. The rooms are fabulous down near Lomani (the garden villas). You can see straight down to the water. The food is devine, they serve fish, salads, ice-cream and anything else you can imagine. They have an outstanding kids club and the people thatt work there are so nice. I just have one thing to say- not about the island but about some of the people who write reviews on this website. Some people say it is terrible, it isn't. The only reason the didn't like it is because when you go to Plantation, you don't get pampered, there aren't paved walkways but I think that's FINE! Don't even bother about what they are talking about, they're probably some old, posh people from America or Europe! I don't mean to be rude but they have NO idea what they are talking about. Vinaka!
