Long Rifle Lodge, Sutton

Long Rifle has a million dollar view of the Matanuska Glacier from it's dining room. Great burgers, desserts and good beer on tap help keep the tourists happy! Their best accomidation is a totally cute secluded log cabin. Ask for the Mat Glacier Cabin. It's a great place to stay for glacier hiking and rafting with NOVA River Guides.

I grew up here and this is sheep mountain lodge. I don't know who posted this crap but it needs to be changed. This could prove to be a tramatic let down for some people

Unfortunately, your previous reviewer was confused about where they were. The photo shown (and previous review given...) is of Sheep Mt. Lodge, not King Mt. Lodge. Sheep Mt. Lodge is in the community of Glacierview, not Palmer -and is located about 80 miles north of Palmer. King Mt. Lodge is located in Chickaloon, which is about 30 miles north of Palmer. Historic King Mt. Lodge is the oldest continually operating original Lodge in Alaska, and consists of a bar, small cafe, and 3 original yet very cozy "rustic trapper cabins" (outhouse available nearby) available for rent. The bar/cafe is open year-round, has indoor plumbing,and a warm woodstove for all to enjoy during the long winters. King Mt. Lodge is a favorite of the colorful local residents, including "Gus the Ghost" who makes himself known from time to time.. The Lodge also offers free camping for RV's and tents.
