Carriage Inn Motel, Cross City

Stopped here overnight after leaving Tampa headed back home to North Carolina, so I didn't have much time. Now I wish I could have stayed a couple of nights there instead of just one quick one. Room was quiet and comfortable, and the owner lent me a cable for connecting my laptop to high-speed Internet (don't think they had wireless). It was basic accommodations but very clean and friendly feeling. I liked the immediate surroundings, with the big trees hung with Spanish moss. Unfortunately, the next-door restaurant seemed to closed during the short time I was there; I found someplace else to eat, but frankly, Cross City itself doesn't offer much in the way of eateries or stores or things to see. I think many people use it as a base for hunting and fishing; and indeed, one of the other parties at the motel when I was there was a carload of hunters. Next time my travels take me to this area, I will make a point to stay at this motel again.

The Carriage Inn is always where I stay when I'm in the area. Clean rooms with comfortable beds at affordable rates. A big bonus is the outstanding food at the old Carriage Inn Restaurant right next door. Absolutely delicious with pleasant people making you feel welcome.

The Carriage Inn is honestly one of THE cleanest hotels I have ever been to! The sheets were white and smelled fresh off the line, bathroom tile sparlked- even had the "Sanitized for your protection" seal on the toilet (my son got a kick out of it- he'd never seen that before. Well-kept property, friendly owners, and great value at a great rate. We will definitely be back!

We loved this older motel. We only stopped there on a spur of the moment and we were happy to have found it. I loved everything about it. From the 60's style scrolled wrought iron railings upstairs and the poles downstairs. The room we stayed in was so cute, it had an old fashioned tiled shower. It was like stepping back to the 60's. I felt like Doris Day and Rock Hudson. Everything about the place was old fashioned yet well maintained. The owners were very polite and gracious, very polite. The sheets were clean, as well as the bathroom. We'll be stopping there every time we go to Florida from Mobile, Al. I will also be suggesting it to all our friends who make the trip. Oh and I forgot to mention how reasonable their rates were. With a Military discount it was only $57.00. A true bargain. Clean beds and bath, gracious hosts, and a grocery store right nearby. For us there was nothing left to ask for. This one is a keeper.

My family and I have stayed at the Carriage Inn many times throughout the past 5 years and have always been very pleased with the cleanliness, service, and overall environment. However the ownership has changed recently and after staying there under the new owners' management we have been even more comfortable and excited about our stays there. They literally treat visitors as if they are family, are entirely friendly and welcoming, and our encounters with them have made each stay such a treat. On top of the enjoyment we find in staying there, we also appreciate the very economical rates. As far as we're concerned there is no other place to stay in, or anywhere near, Cross City, Florida.

I travel quiet frequently and have done a share of hotels and motels. Whenever I am traveling through the North Central part of Florida, I plan my trip around so that I can stay at the Carriage Inn. I've been to others in the area and they just do not compare. Very nice environment and always clean and comfortable rooms. Management is very friendly and helpful. I actually took my family for a weekend trip and we stayed there, kids really enjoyed the pool. There is also fishing and crabbing for those outdoor enthusiast.
