Can't wait to go again next year!
By Laurie, 8/30/10
We just returned from a week at Lake George. I have found that finding a place that looked nice online and was actually nice can be a little bit of a chore. Driving into Lake George we were a little apprehensive about what our place would be like. We were very pleasantly surprised. Upon our arrival we checked into the office and were pleasantly greeted by Laura. Our room had two beds, a bath, a full size refrigerator, a stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and a table and chairs for 4. There are plenty of barbeques on the property and picnic tables to accommodate a few or many. We really enjoyed the private beach. The walk is a little steep coming back up but hey all of us could use a little exercise. When we arrived and went down by the lake we saw that a lot of people had great tubes and rafts and were floating leisurely in the lake while having a drink. We soon ventured out and bought our own tubes along with an electric pump. We then started driving down to the beach where there is enough room to park for the day. I cannot say enough good things about the resort. It’s not fancy but it's very clean, well maintained, the owners are very accommodating and it thought it was very good value for the weekly rate. My 14 year old daughter went to the office several times to ask Laura questions and she always came back with the information she was looking for. There is plenty to do but most of all we enjoyed jumping from the little bridge and swimming and floating in the unbelievably clean lake. We rented a pontoon boat at Yankee Marina next door to the hotel, we went to the fort, and enjoyed strolling around town a couples of times. The only thing that I really considered a tourist trap was the Barton Mines - but I guess some people liked it so I guess it’s just my opinion It was nice visiting the village but I really liked staying where we did which was outside the hustle and bustle. We saw a big painted horse riding around town advertising the Painted Pony Rodeo. We had never been to a rodeo. We decided to go to the barbeque and then the rodeo. It was great – very entertaining! My husband and I and our two daughters (14 and 10) loved it.. So thanks for our great vacation. We will definitely be back next year and maybe bring some more family with us. It’s a great place for a large group to be together and have fun. Thanks again.

Great All Around Vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/09
We have been coming to The Flamingo in Lake George since I was a child. It has always been a great all around vacation resort and has now turned into our annual family reunion destination vacation. The owners are great and treat us like family. The resort and rooms are maintained beautifully and appeals to not only kids but to members of our extended family of all ages. We love the private beach and swim area that is very safe for our kids. We are thinking of coming back off season for a quick getaway. We already booked our vacation for next year.

Very nice vacation spot
By Jason, 9/7/08
This is my 5th year staying at the Flamingo, and I don't think I would ever stay any place else. My kids love it here, they play with the same kids they met 5 years ago here. They also have Charter fishing on the property, my family of 7 caught over 100 fish and the captain was very informative on making up bass masters. The owners here are very nice and do a wonderful job running there family owned business. The only downside to it is when you're here your vacations seems to pass very quickly.

YEAR AFTER YEAR
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/07
We go up with a group of friends and their family every year. They have been going for at least 20+ years. We book the same cabin and see the same people every year. It's great to watch the children grow up and bring their children there. Whoever wrote about the "Stepping Stone" is correct. It's beautiful... But you can't even have visitors. Too much pressure and you feel watched all the time. The owners of the Flamingo are really nice people and try to accomodate as best the can. The families watch out for each other's children by the Lake. The only thing I'm not too crazy about, and it seems most places have this unavoidable problem... is the steep hill (for us slightly older people LOL) Other than that. Try it!!!!

Rustic and comfortable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/20/05
I find this resort very comfortable, relaxing and family oriented. If you want luxury go to the Sagamore and pay those big bucks. This place is for relaxing, meeting nice people and having the tension drop away. The owners are lovely, and care about your comfort. They don't bother you and aren't up your back like The Stepping Stone. The owners are forever adding and looking for ways to make your stay enjoyable. I look forward to going there every summer with a bunch of family and friends. Most families book and come back, year after year.
