I love this place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/09
This inn is managed by two women and they do show that they care about customers. It is true that the place small and old like stated in other review, but they make it up the detail of works they do in each room. I noticed coffee cups were replaced daily, meaning they really wash them. I also liked the brand of shampoo/conditionars/soaps. Normally, the shampoo and soap provided by the most of hotels hurts my skin, but theirs didn't. And the brand worked well with well-water. They also leave cleaning clothes so people won't need to use bathroom towel for something other than bathroom use, like wiping dogs' feet. The setup is great; they have a big yard, and each room comes with a private entrance with fence/small patio. The receptionist was very nice too. The location was good too. It's near beach and states parks.

Wonderful memories!
By John, 03/18/09
My father and I built this Inn and I was one of the first "Inn Keepers!" It was a wonderful experience. The location is in beautiful Cleone which is just a short distance from the beach and MacKerricher State Park. The new owners are doing a terrific job of restoration on the Inn and the gardens are very lovely. A small country grocery store is just a short distance away and there is an incredible State Park nearby. This area is one of the most beautiful areas along the entire coast!

One Free Night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/06/08
We needed to be in the area for about 9 days. After researching locations up and down the Mendocino Coast, we found that the area can be pricey. Cleone Garden was out of the way for us but so worth the short drive. The owner/manager was very helpful with local information and the restaurants she recommended saved us time and money! Do ask about the path to the beach!! They have a beautiful private shortcut to the beach road just for guests. Our room was pleasant and clean. Very happy with the price. Best of all, they gave us the 7th night free. If they can keep their prices down and survive, we will go back and recommend to friends. Very good value! Thelo and Leah

Our Favorite Weekend Get Away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/14/08
We liked,(very much!),that the inn is several miles out of town, close to the beach, allows dogs, no phones, no pretentious social hour sitting with strangers, and no appointments to use their spa. Besides being a beautiful place to stay, it was peaceful, and very relaxing. Just what we ordered! Thanks.

Friendly for Guests and Dogs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/10/07
This small lodge is charming, quiet and beautiful. A great place to stay if traveling with pets. There is a huge meadow for the dogs to run and play and the rooms are very clean!!! The new owners are welcoming and very friendly. They are in the process of updating the rooms and the property. It is awesome to see all the new improvements this family has done in the short amount of time they have owned the inn. The out door spa is amazing at night and being able to star gaze was so relaxing. Cleone Gardens Inn is our favorit place to stay and we recomend it to all our friends.

We will stay again and again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/07
We highly recommend this inn and location to anyone with pets. Our stay was 3 days. We were thrilled to see the changes the newest owners are making. We only hope they don't get discouraged by the negative posts! The out of town setting is charmingly quiet at night. Our dogs had a wonderful time in their meadow. The newest staff, who are the newest owners, were more than thoughtful of our needs from reservations to check-out. They kindly worked with our changing plans. Our room was sweetly decorated, very clean, and room service excellent. We requested extra mixing bowls, a meat thermometer and baking dishes which they provided us. The prices are a real bargain for that area too! The Mexican restaurant near by is wonderful and MacKerricher State Park is a must see. Knowing that our pets are welcome and that we will return home refreshed, rested and without cleaning out our travel funds, makes the drive worth it. Thanks once again!

cheap, but awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/07
The rooms are pitiful, not worth the money. The refrigerator was dirty, and so was the coffee pot. Very poorly furnished. The management is not on site at night and at times not during the day. No phone in room and cell phone service is nonexistent. Carpets have stains and linoleum is coming up from the floor. Just don't bother!

Don't Stay Here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/07
The rooms in this place are dirty and uncomfortable. The oven was so filthy that it smoked up the entire room when we tryed to warm up food. There was no smoke detector in the main living area off the kitchen, only one in the back bedroom, and I don't know that it worked. The owners are not present at night. We were the only car in the parking lot for many nights. The grounds-keeper was supposed to stay there at night, but didn't.Cars and vagrants sometimes came into the parking lot at night. The curtains did not fit nor cover the windows. They were very poorly homemade. There was absolutely no cell phone service there and no phone in the room. The only phone was about 100 yds. away on an outside wall of the office. Safety issues were brought up with the owners, who responded by rolling their eyes and offering us a wind up flash light. Good advice - avoid at all costs!

I will never go back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/24/07
Poor service, managers never in office. Rented our confirmed room and refused to move them. Yes we were there on time. Begrudgingly agreed to a comparable room. Confirmed with one manager extra night stay. Revoked by the other manager. Nothing but problems all three days we were there. Beautiful grounds, but to much conflict, when one manager doesn't know what the other is doing. Too many chiefs.....ruined our vacation. I will never go back again.

Great staff, beautiful view!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/06
The staff here is so accommodating! They let us stay extra nights, even though that meant switching another guest to a different room. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are a little small, but nicely decorated. They are currently making some updates, and it's a good thing- this place looks old and worn. The deck should definitely be replaced. There are some thigns that need to be improved, but overall, the staff and tranquil settings make up for that. It is further from town than any other B and B, but it's worth it. I hope they are done with all the remodeling when we got back. We will definitely stay here again!
