don't waste your $
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/09
We read the reviews right before we left home and are only an hour away, so we were prepared NOT to stay - AND WE DIDN'T! We took a 1 minute tour of our room which looked and smelled like a cheap sleaszy motel, and left. What a ripoff!

Never again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/18/09
My husband and I planned a weekend get-away for our anniversary and were severely disappointed in our lodging. Check-in time was 1:00 p.m., but we had to wait an hour before being shown our room. We initially waited on the unkempt front porch where employees were working, but no one even acknowledged our presence. The porch also included a random man watching television and smoking a cigar. The interior of the main house is full of junk. The only employee who ever spoke to us for our entire visit was the young lady who checked us in, though she seemed very unsure about what she was doing. Our room was old and musty. The sheets and bath linens was so old and thin, they almost seemed worn through. The room was anything but quaint and comfortable, and I experienced my worst night's sleep there. The grounds were full of junk and cats. We did not end up staying for breakfast...I would not eat anything prepared in that place. Overall, this "inn" was dirty, weird and unwelcoming.

Fleabag hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/13/07
Mangy flee covered cats were all over and something dead was under the porch by our room. The housekeeper was watching tv in our room so we waited on the porch while she vacummed. The long porch had trash on it, as well as the yard we walked by to get to our room. The room was dirty as well as unsafe....cracks under the carpet, an extension cord with 5 or 6 things plugged into it and the bathroom shower wall was falling off. Those who served breakfast did not speak...one server did jump in front of us. The person who checked us in was friendly, but sent us to a restaurant l0 miles away that is no longer there. We did not meet the owners, but things have gone downhill since the earlier ratings.

Keep looking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/07
We just got back from the Spring Pilgramage in Mississippi and Louisiana and our last night before we flew out was at the St. Francisville Inn. The girl that registered us at the main desk was very friendly. The grounds once you got past he beautiful Victorian front were very junky and unkept. There were probably 10 or 15 cats running around the grounds with mange, fleas, and ear mites which is very sad since we love cats. The rooms were not even what I would call quaint, they were old and dirty. The sheets were so thin they were balled up and the beds were very hard. The next morning we stepped out our door to an awful smell in the courtyard to something dead. When we got around to go into the breakfast area the gal that unlock the door simply did just that, she did not open the door to greet us she simply walk away. We were really looking forward to the breakfast becuase we had heard so many wonderful things about it. It was quite simply horrible. You could tell most everything was reaheated from the day before because it was so hard. This is the first time I have ever written a review and I do quite a bit of traveling but I have to say this was one of the dirtiest places I have ever stayed. This is so sad because I am sure at one time in was a real beauty!

so welcoming & great breakfast to boot
By Carol, 03/16/06
I cannot say enough good things about this place. The people were so friendly, the rooms very charming (antiques and interesting artworks--with comfy beds and en suite bath), the courtyard a tresure trove of mature plantings with a real old world feel. There is also a swimming pool, a huge front porch to rock on, and several very friendly cats. Situated in the heart of town, it is an easy walk to several restaraunts/bars where it is very easy to strike up a converation with local folks, laugh and share a few beers. There's so much to do in the area that one night's stay will not be nearly long enough. The Inn is a great central point from which to explore, and is so comfortable and welcoming. The breakfast is superb! A whole buffet that includes quiche, bacon, eggs, crepes, banannas foster and much more. Really loved this place.

A Quaint Inn to Remember
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/29/05
Having traveled south Louisiana extensively, St. Francisville has become our favorite destination and the St. Francisville Inn our favorite lodging. This small town is great to kick back and relax. There's plenty of sites to see, plantations and such, but we find relaxing in the courtyard at this Inn and strolling down the historic district our attraction. Walking from the st. Francisville Inn, we find two restaurants and several shops. There's also historic churches and a museum a little further down the street. Breakfast was another highlight, the banana foster being my favorite. Rooms are very comfortable and affordable - making an extra night a plus. We be back again and again.

It was adequate, but I wasn't impressed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/05
This is a nice old home, and the rooms were homey and comfortable. The location was convenient, although the inn was right in the middle of town, next to a convenience store and across from an auto repair shop. You couldn't see these businesses from the rooms, so that's not too bad. The breakfast buffet was good (the grits were EXCELLENT) and there was plenty of it. The pool was nice, but the hot tub was not turned on. The courtyard could have been very pretty, if someone had straightened it up a bit. The grounds were cluttered and needed a little bit of attention. There were vending machines discreetly situated, but the soft drinks were all sold out. There were soft drinks available for sale inside, but those were $1.00, as opposed to $.75, if the vending machine had been stocked. Also, they had books available for sale, but they tried to charge us the price on the cover of the USED book when we inquired. Not a big deal, but I thought their obvious attempts at making a buck were tacky. The staff and owners were very nice and helpful and easily accessible when needed. There were several cats in residence on the grounds, but unfortunately, the odor of cat urine was obvious in one or two places. This was the least expensive B&B in the area, but it was still comfortable. If I were looking for a true B&B experience, I would probably spend the extra money and stay at a B&B a little farther down the road next time.

You will dream about this place!
By Gizmeaux, 05/25/05
We always choose the St. Francisville Inn. This little Inn offers a tranquil get-a-way with beautiful flowers, trees and architecture as the backdrop. I always say I feel more like I'm staying with a great Aunt or relative than at a hotel, because you truly feel welcome and within walking distance of the shops and attractions. They offer a swimming pool and beautiful courtyard to sit back and enjoy a good book. There is a restaurant open for breakfast - amazing food! It also offers desserts, coffee, and cocktails. Staying here is a great experience!

A B&B with atmosphere...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/05
The St. Francisville Inn is a gingerbread encrusted somewhat creaky old home close to the center of town. It's historic and charming and the breakfast spread is generous with lots to choose from. It's a home with two, I think, children in residence who seem not to mind that there are always strange people about. Our room on the second level was large, airy, and the bed kingsize and comfortable. The gal who came in everyday to do housekeeping was so sweet and helpful - she never said no to a single request regarding things like an extra towel or if we could use the washer and dryer when she had finished. Spanish moss drips everywhere, palmtrees grow in the center courtyard, it rained too much to use the smallish pool, so we spent a lot of time in the front room looking at antiques and photographs for sale. Prices were very reasonable and the owner, Laurie, called to make appointments for: haircuts, massages, and doctor's clinic for a fever. We'll go back, of course.
