what a dump
By Rachel Slick, 08/16/08
I am not overly critical about cheap places to stay, and this WAS the cheapest I could find. Durango is an expensive city, so I hoped to save a few bucks. But there were a lot of problems with this place. First the good things 1. Desk clerk upgraded us to king bed, very accomodating. 2. Very centrally located 3. Friendly housekeeping staff The Bad things 1. 3 air conditioners in the room, none of them worked. 2. Bathroom window had no lock and opened directly onto street. We had to set up a tin cup alarm to let us know if anyone was trying to climb through! 3. Toilet not bolted to floor, so it rocked every time you sat down on it 4. Towels stained and extremely threadbare. Bathmat had huge black shoe prints all over it. 5. We were at the back of the hotel and the street noise was still extremely loud

was good for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/08
well lets see first after reading the reviews was a little skeptical about the reservations we made but after arriving their we found that Tim the front desk assistant was very helpful the newly remodled king bed rooms were wonderful the new beds were great and all the recommendations from tim were the best. i would recommend this place to all my family and friends it aint the ritz or the hilton they dont have coffee pots or shampoo and conditioner in the rooms they dont do breakfast either but for the price and new rooms what else could you ask for.. if your stuck up it aint for you ... and from what i found out its the only outdoor pool with a deep end my kids loved it ..

The best thing is the price
By Dr_Adventure, 06/20/08
Overall, not a place I would recommend. It is inexpensive, but the rooms are also small and uncomfortable. Does have free wireless - though the code to access it is 24 digits long (you would think this was the most secure site around). There are other similarly priced units in the area - I would would go there first.

Absolutely pathetic!!!
By whoami, 06/20/08
To start with, our Non-smoking room included a blackened ceiling in the rooming area. Also, the edge of our mattress was breaking down, so we kept falling to that side of the bed. Additionally, the plaster in the bathroom was peeling off and there was an abundance of mold growing. The air conditioner unit was so dirty we didn't dare use it in a room with two asthmatic individuals. We spent maybe five minutes in the "heated" pool before our children couldn't take any more teeth chattering. The chemicals in the hot tub were too high. To top all of that off, we had to fix the toilet three times during the night (midnight, 2am, 5am) because the chain kept breaking. The hotel "manager" refused to do anything for us about the circumstances AT ALL!!! DO NOT use this facility during your stay in Durango! If a 0 star rating was possible, we would definitely apply it here. This is by leaps and bounds our worst hotel experience worldwide.

This place is horrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/08
The location is the only good thing about this rat hole. The A/C unit barely worked and sounded like an F5 hurricane. The toilet did not work and I had to fix it myself! The room was very shabby with cracks everywhere ,peeling paint all over, missing bathroom tiles and previous occupants trash left behind. This place is very very sad. I am surprised that they are allowed to operate. I would advise people not to bring a family here, it did not feel safe. On the second morning of our stay we found a knife on the ground by our vehicle from shady looking residents below us. The parking lot lights did not turn on and left the parking lot very dark. We will never stay there again.

The worst of the west
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/02/08
We arrived in Durango after a long day in Mesa Verde to find the hotel room ($63 a double in July) not exactly what we'd expected. Yes, the price was very appealing, but we would have paid more. The bedroom smelled like it had never been cleaned, the paint was peeling, the A/C barely worked, and sounded like a train when it did run, and the bathroom was straight out of a horror movie, including various types of insects, small and large. Our favourite part were our neighors (the two rooms on either side). One room set up a BBQ on the sidewalk in between our bedrooms, complete with radio, flames, and lots of beer. The others parked their giant new pickup truck in front of the door and were constantly opening and shutting the room doors and truck doors, to check god only knows what. At that point it was too late to consider changing rooms or hotels, so we just did the best we could. The receptionist the next morning was far from sympathetic, although it wasn't particularly her fault. We cancelled the second night and went to a better, more normal hotel down the street. Not worth the cost reduction.

Not that bad at all !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/13/08
I had to stay an additional night in Durango and after staying in another motel further up the street decided to give them a try as I was on budget and advertized price was kind of cool (42,85 $ tax incl.) Friendly staff over the phone and helpful when arriving, who helped me organized a taxi pick up for the next morning to the airport I changed room because the one they gave me (even if I'm smoker) was smelling like a cold ashtray and it was too chilly to use the outdoor swimming pull but maybe I should have used the indoor jacuzzi in order to relax further. Room was missing a fridge and a microwave but otherwise was big enough for me alone.

1Step up from Dump Hole
By Sherri J, 07/08/05
Ok, I'm having the worst luck finding a decent hotel this month. This place is just sad. They said they had rooms for $44 but thats only if you sleep in a full size bed. The room I got stuck in was tiny, they charged me extra for having my dog with me (which I wasn't aware of ahead of time). It was about 5 feet from the road, so I got to hear traffic all night (including Harley Motorcycles). Loud people in the parking lot helped insure I didn't get any sleep. The bathroom was tiny, but at least the shower was new. There were cracks in the walls and ceiling. There were holes in the curtains. Large stains on the floor right by the bed ( I got to look at it each time I got into bed). It smelled like a smokers room though the sign said "non smoking". I'd have been better off sleeping in my car.
