Blue Lake Ranch, Hesperus

We enjoyed our stay at Blue Lake Ranch immensely. Amazing proliferation of flowers, nice lake with trout on property; facilities are extremely clean and well decorated in the southwestern style. Food was excellent (breakfast only is served), staff was intelligent, enthusiastic and informed and the views of the LaPlata Mountains are wonderful. Excellent spot to access LaPlata Canyon, Mesa Verde National Park and Durango, while enjoying the privacy of being in the country. We would love to stay there again.

The Blue Lake ranch was AMAZING. It was a little hard to find but once we got there everything was perfect. We walked into the main ranch house and were enthusiastically greeted by the owners. We then went and were given a tour of where we would be staying at the cottage in the woods. The cottage was amazing, you have to walk through a small gate into a large garden only to be greeted by the quiantest little cottage ever. the cottage was decorated with a vative american/ american country motif. the was a small kitchennette with a counter top stove perfect for makeing delicious vegitarian meals. A wonderful as fireplace controlled by a thermostat warmed the rooms. In the bathroom a large jacuzzi big enough for two added to the slpendor. the main room was filled with books and a king size bed. on the first morning of our stay we were greet by the most people friendly cat every on our porch. we loved cats and invited her inside. we were convinced that the owners planted that cat in our yard just to make the weekend more perfect. The fridge even had creaers in it. the cat who we named sasha stayed with us till the very end of our stay. Every one who worked at the ranch was wonderful. one drawback though was that a cleaning man came, when we were assuming no one would be stopping by, so make sure if you want total privacy to ask for it.
