DoubleTree by Hilton Virginia Beach, Virginia Beach

First and foremost, I had a reservation for this hotel before I arrived paid in full. Once I got to the hotel it had come up a bad storm, there wasn't any parking to check-in or in the parking lot. Had to walk a long way just to check-in. Once I checked in the lady said that my room was available. She then proceed to give me the key to the room. Upon entering the room the maintenance man meet me at the door stating that he had to fix a problem. The bathroom floor had hair all over it, and in the tub. The sheets had red bodily fluids on them, and the lobby smelled like cats. Noticing that it was not the room that I had book and was confirmed to me which was a smoking room. Later I found out that it was a non-smoking room in which they charge me and extra $150 upon check-out. After a 7 hour trip back to my destination I later found out that the room that was given to me was all they had and they had over booked and didn't have the room that was paid in full available. Staff never explained go me that the room that was confirmed to me was not available. The company that booked my reservation spoke to Melody the manager and myself and which she stated that I would not get my money back. The manager said as long as I was in a room they didn't have to follow my reservation. She was very rude, and had no kind of professionalism about her nor the chain she works for.

THe outside is hideous so that concerned us. Walked in nice lobby so don't judge from the outside... NOW to the front desk ladies, we checked in with Tasha, she was very rude and inconsiderate. Has AWFUL attitude and just made us want to leave as soon as we were checking in. Another girl helped us later that day, believe her name was Kelly... She made us feel way better about our stay, awesome personality, VERY welcoming, gave us great reccommendations and went out of her way to look things up, she even made our kids feel so welcome and happy! she warned us to be careful at the beach due to the hurricane coming ashore and how rough the waves are so to keep special eye on our children. and that blew us away! She always smiled the WHOLE time we were there in front of her, told us anything we needed let her know and she'd do her best and boy she did! SHE is the reason we'd come back!!! PLEASE fire that attitude you call an associate TASHA!!!!

Yes, this hotel is the most economical choice near VA beach, but once you step out of the elevator into the dingy hallway that smells like burning plastic, realize that your air conditioning unit is louder than the TV and totally ineffective, and you have no ride back from the beach after 10 p.m., you'll be kicking yourself for not paying $25 more and staying right on the beach. Somehow this hotel manages a 3+ star rating, which must be due to the Doubletree name and lobbying ability, because in no way is this better than 2 stars. Staying there isn't horrible, but you'll feel better about the experience if you aren't expecting something nice.

O,im so glad,becouse Double Tree Hotel very good hotel.Manager miss Kerry she is nice women,and other managers too.I like this hotel for servis,and personal always smile.

the ventilation in the rooms and hotel area was very poor, very humid,terrible smells of a chemical type substance in the bed room that made my throat burn and wanted to cough. the breakfast food was very poor,very stale and bitter. location too far to walk to the beach area,need to drive. we stayed two nights,had to move onto another room because of the poor ventilation and heat,but the second room still had the remains of odor and humidity problems!

This hotel is nothing like what it is advertised. The only eating establishment that is within walking distance is a McDonald's. The beach is also not within walking distance, which is what is advertised. The cleaniness of the hotel is awlful. Upon arrival of my first night, the room was not clean and the toilet still had toilet paper in the bowl. To top it off, after flushing the toilet, the toilet backed up causing maintenance to have to correct. The lamp and alarm clock in my room never worked and after several complaints and repairs, still never worked. Never once did the hotel offer to change my room. The front desk staff is not helpful nor nice; however, the maintenance and cleaning staff are helpful and nice. This is the worst, AND I MEAN WORST, hotel I have every stayed. I gurantee this is the first and last time I will every stay at a Double Tree Hotel. I am just amazed that Hilton would even acknowledge ownership in this hotel!

We stayed there last minute, so we didn't have a chance to call ahead or anything, but we still got a good deal on a suite for 100 or so dollars. The beds were INCREDIBLE!!! I've never slept on such a comfortable bed...and I've even stayed at the Westin with the supposed "heavenly beds"...The only thing that was going on was that there were renovations going on, so the restaurant and bar were located on the 2nd floor in some spare conference rooms, so that wasn't so great. It is quite a far ways from the beach, but it is a short cab ride (or long walk)...otherwise, I think the service was great, the rooms were clean...I wouldn't mind going back again and again!!!

Just to let everyone know this hotel is NOT walking distance from va beach...no way. On the other hand they do have a old little dingy van that takes you back and forth but i would reccomend you just driving. The room however was VERY nice and the bed was extermely comfortable. I didn't like that the indoor pool, and gameroom closed at 10 pm, i paid money and i was expecting to be able to swim whenever. Beside from the inconvienent distance to the beach and the disciplined swimming I had a very nice time in the beautiful hotel. O yea, and house keeping is very nice.

We are frequent the Doubletree hotels and were taken aback with this location. While the staff was nice enough, the room and our experience with this facility was horrible. We lacked hot water for the entire duration of our stay, the vending machine's didn't work, and the parking lot had plenty of leaves on the ground...probably from last fall. That's pretty sad considering that we stayed in the middle of August. The lobby was dingy and dark and the elevator wait took longer than necessary. We initially booked at the hotel due to the familiarity of the brand, but this particular facility is a bad apple in the Doubletree brand chain.

The lobby was nice, but don't let that fool you into staying at the dump. The commode top was just sitting on the toilet, tile fell off the wall, no change for the recreation room, my kids were told to go to the bar and they may have change, front desk clerks were impolite. If you book through Hotwire, you are not welcome. The word is "no", according to the front desk. I will never book through Hotwire again, nor will I stay at DoubleTree the "Dump". This Hotel is definitely not located within walking distance of the Beach. If I were you, I would take this review into consideration and move on to a nice Hotel near the Beach.
