New mgt-great value, brkfst, pool, friendly
By Carolyn Rose, 4/10/12
I have stayed in over half a dozen hotels in Columbia over the past 5 years and by far the current staff and management here at the American Best Value Inn have proven to be the most professional as well as friendly. Manager Jim Rehg is a super guy, new Housekeeping coordinator Bex - Bettie McNaughton - a great gal, along with new staff; have been working hard to make customers happy, comfortable and welcome. Truly you feel more like family here than a mere guest. Plus they are animal friendly and offer an excellent healthy breakfast as part of the room rate - as well as super lobby area with computer access and large screen TV.

Nice place, good value
By thatgirl, 11/27/09
I'm always looking for a bargain when I travel, so a hotel for under $50 is a good deal. The room was clean, had a microwave and a fridge. Internet was free. Breakfast the next morning was well stocked and the staff was very friendly. I saw there was a gym. Overall I had a great time, didn't spend alot, and would stay there again.

Would not go back
By Lorraine, 11/10/09
The only thing that was possitive about the hotel was the staff. They were nice. Otherwise, smallest rooms I have ever seen, the smell was musty, we could not sleep because it sounded like our door was not even closed. All night we heard people outside and cars coming and going. It was almost creepy. The best one yet is that we could not take showers because there was no pressure. Had to go across town to our son's appartment to take showers. The breakfast was OK but my daughter made the remark that the dining room was cleaner than the room we slept in. So that was our experience in this hotel. First time I could not wait to leave.

More bang for your buck!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/20/08
Older place, but very up to date. Wireless internet, clean pool, great breakfast, and very nice staff. Stay on the tip of their toes when you need something, I enjoed it very much. It's def. a place I would come back to, especially for the price!

Better than expected
By Mark, 8/20/07
Rooms were better than expected. Clean and quiet. Excellent value for the money. Pool was clean. Continental breakfast was fruit and cereal, but a very good restaurant next door.

more like camping
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/26/07
The room was run down, and smelled heavy of room deoderizer. The outside door had a huge gap which let in all the traffic noise as well as a variety of insects. The bed sheets did not appear to be fresh. The fan in the bathroom was unusable as it sounded like a 747 taking off. There was no hot water in the shower. IF you still want to stay here I suggest you bring a fly swatter, duct tape, and your own sheets.

Best Place in Columbia
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/06
Great free buffet breakfast. Close to downtown and university as well as easy access to I-70. Polite, helpful staff and very clean rooms. Wonderful pool. Great value.

good motel for the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/06
it was average but ok for the money.they have cheaper rates if you stay longeror book in person at the counter. this place has high speed wirless internet, a decent bkfst buffet, attentive staff. we requested sheets changed daily and they did it w/o any problem. But the place is old. If your goal is lodging then this place is okay. but it is not the ritz.

Don't Stay Here!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/05
This hotel was absoultely awful. Our room was tiny and smelled terribly musty. Under the bed were empty milk cartons and other trash. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned for months. Additionally there were people who didn't look very nice just hanging around. I did not feel safe. If it hadn't been so late I would have left even if I lost my money. I couldn't wait to get up and leave the next morning.

Nice Place. You could tell it was old but they are keeping it clean. The bathroom door wouldn't close but no big deal. Seems to be in a noce area and easy to find and access the highway.
