Maravu Plantation Resort, Taveuni Island

We so enjoyed our second visit to Maravu Plantation this past spring. It was even more beautiful than our first visit several years ago and the staff is still as friendly, helpful and attentive as before. They were lifesavers when we had travel difficulties and their efforts saved the remainder of our vacation to the Solomon Islands! They spent many hours of their time making arrangements with the proper parties to continue our travels and arranged additional lodging and meals for us. We have been to Fiji five times in the past 2 1/2 years, and in six different resorts; Maravu is our favorite by far! Above all the staff is wonderful. We have fallen in love with each bright smile. Everyone has been very warm & friendly & their heart very genuine. All staff behave like welcoming hosts. We also think you receive best value for money of all resorts we know. The accommodations are spacious and you have lots of privacy; we loved our deck with a hammock and sea views and especially the patio with the big Jacuzzi; you have even sea views from the Jacuzzi, and you can adjust the water temperature to your liking (it takes a bit long though). The activities staff is always doing a great job in helping us plan and accompany our activities.There are so many activities you cannot do all in a week. We actually couldn't do all during three stays of one week each! The coconut demonstrations, cooking lessons, Fijian medicine sessions, etc are always very nicely done; these afternoon cultural demonstrations at Maravu are a very nice idea. The food is extraordinary, and on a par with best restaurants anywhere. Not only are the ingredients skillfully handled, but the menu are innovative and exciting! The bures are very well kept, clean, comfortable and tasteful. One day I think we stayed around the room too much and were a little confused about whether we kept our cleaning lady away. I spoke to the reception and when we returned from lunch, all was arranged. Also the service in the restaurant is delightful, they are doing everything so well. The massages at Maravu are another outstanding thing. The spa run by Maria and Mere couldn't do any better for relaxation after a long day hiking in Bouma National Park. The prices in the bar - cocktails, beers, wines - are reasonable if not cheap though. The boutique has a very good choice of Fiji handicrafts and spa products and they will even sent your piece of art safe and nicely packed back home. Maravu is not just a business, it is a work of art! Taveuni Island is not just a beautiful, magnificent Island, it is the closest you can get to paradise!!

We just came back from a 4 week vacation in Fiji and we cannot believe how incredible it is to holiday in this country and especially on Taveuni Island. If you want to escape from crowded places and hide on a luxurious spot in the midst of a fascinating tropical garden scenery, Maravu is the place where dreams come true. You have your own individual bure (house) with a huge veranda furnished with sun-loungers and an inviting hammock. The inside offers great convenience with ceiling fans, air-condition, mini-bar, wonderful four-post king-size beds and tasteful furnishings, all make you feel at home or in heaven. The bathroom offers everything you dream of as well. You want to have a shower or a bath outside under the stars? No problem, you can do so any time in your own private outdoor bathroom! The food was incredible, so fresh and tasty. The meals are diverse also for vegetarians. We enjoyed every morning our breakfast from an extensive buffet in the generous restaurant and lounge. There you can also find the bar for inviting drinks and cocktails in the afternoon or a simple Fiji bitter. Various trips introduce you to the beauty of the island no matter whether you want to go for a swim at the Bouma waterfalls or hike along the Lavena coast or in the bush. Or you feel like snorkeling or diving? Or a simple relaxing time on the fascinating beach? Or is your body longing for a massage never heard of? Well there is only one answer to all these demands: Maravu Resort on Taveuni Island!

If you are looking to get away from it all, Maravu is the place. Our bure was situated on top of a hill over looking the ocean. On the back deck was a very comfortable hammock in which to read and enjoy the view. At night we relaxed in the private hot tub after dinner and the local entertainment. Watch out for the kava ceremonies as it can have a �kick�, but a lot of fun. The staff, including the owners, were all wonderful and caring. They made you feel like family and took pride in your enjoyment of your vacation. Flo is the mother figure of the resort and will look after all your needs. Anything you need, just ask any staff member. Blazey (the dog) will become your best friend, and protector. She will walk you to your bure after dinner. We truly loved the resort, the employees and the island. Even though it was a 30 hour journey for us, we will definitely go back some day and only consider staying at Maravu due to the accommodations and friendly and caring staff.

I could rave all day about this place, but that would take forever. The location is gorgeous, the rooms clean and spaceous, the staff friendly and warm, and so much more. Maravu has everything we desired from our honeymoon, pampering, free time and plenty of activites. The staff planned everything we wanted and did not force us into anything we did not. The food was great, some other guest may disagree, but I enjoyed all of it. They sing to you and treat you like family and being in Fiji is amazing. They cater more to honeymooners, but others do not need to worry, they had a wonderful time and will not feel out of place. (A tip though, bring your own bottle of alcohol or two and cut down on the costs) So, go, relax and enjoy the Kava with the Maravu Band Boys. Plus if you get lonely, there are enough pets roaming around to make you feel at home!

This was the most amazing place i have ever been to. The staff was great. The food was sensational. And the surroundings were breathtaking. I could not have asked for and more.

there was nothing to dislike everything was great,the staff was the best they treated you like a king and queen. the meals were excepitional in a romantic dinning room every night. trips off site were breath taking.could not say one bad thing. your bure is the best place i have ever slept.there sights like i have never seen and may never see again.there was alot to do without leaving the site.this is the most romantic place you could ever go. just sit back relax and enjoy yourselves.

Maravu was, simply put, paradise. From the moment of our arrival to our final farewell, the staff was personable and eager to help, learn about us, and share their own customs. It went beyond normal hospitality. The activities were all wonderful. There's something for every fitness level, every interest. If you're in good shape, the waterfalls in the rain forest are fantastic - though I could have gone without seeing the jungle spiders. And make sure you get a Fijian massage. As if you're not relaxed enough, those ladies will make you melt. The best friend I made while at Maravu was their resort dog, "Blaze." Blaze was just the sweetest little thing, always there to escort you to and from the beach and ready to bark at anybody she didn't know. The only thing I can recall not liking about Maravu was "Honeymoon Island," which is literally just a tiny little island that they leave you at for a few hours with your packed lunch. It's supposed to be romantic I suppose, but I get freaked easily. Being abandoned on an island with no way to call for help if something bad happened made me nervous. But it was still amazing to sit and think, "Here I am, along with my husband, on our very own island in the middle of the South Pacific." I will, without a doubt, be going back to Maravu someday. You will not regret choosing this resort, which, price-wise, seemed a fantastic deal compared to other comparable resorts. Go for it - you'll be comfortable, be treated kindly, and have loads of privacy (LOVE those private jaccuzzis!).

The place is so beautiful.The rooms are so nice and give a good feeling.Foods are fentastic. Staff is ver friendly.The pool is so good.at night it's like a heaven
