Sangay Spa Hotel, Cuenca

i stayed here two nights and it is great for a family vacation.great views and easy access to the thermal pools around the area. great breakfast and service. staff was very friendly.

The Sangay Spa is billed as a relaxing place to stay in Banos, but it was anything but when I stayed in July 2008. We stayed in the "executive rooms" which were old and run down. The worst, however, was the fact that we had neighbors who, for two nights in a row, played their drunkenly guitar for 3 hours straight and despite two phone calls to the desk as well as a visit out at 5:30 in the morning, the hotel did absolutely nothing to either stop the noise or compensate us for our two nights of sleepless stay. For the money we payed, I was not impressed. We have payed half of those rates elsewhere in Ecuador and have stayed at lovely places. Skip the Sangay Spa in Banos.

The management of this hotel has probably recently changed. The staff has no experience. The room we have had this year was dirty. The porrest hotel we got during our trip. Really disappointing.

Banos was great in 2005 the Hotel Sangay was really cool and comfortable with a good price, good service and quiet. I am going again this year 2006 and i will stay there again this time with nore friends.
