Wonderful place to exprience.
We (family) have stayed here couple of times during our visit over the years to Bangkok. Never hand any negative experiences. The staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive. The food is to die for , from their Next2caf,Salathip Thai and Shang Palace is just worth every Bhat. From their shopping arcade the shopping center Robinson Bangrak is just a stones throw away, so it is so convenient to say the least, but being in Silom its far from the main area but thanks to the sky train we can avoid the traffic if you need to go the world trade center area and the rest. Even if you dont stay here I would suggest one try the Shang, Caf (buffet ) and Salathip Thai restaurant, those are not to be missed. Thai people in general are the friendliest in the world

The best ever
By Rashad I, 12/27/06
An ultimate luxury and freedom, home outside our house, the best one - Shangri-La Bangkok. I was very anxious and a bit apprehensive about our holidays in Bangkok 2 years ago, as I have never been to Asia before. Christmas 2005 when we arrived to Bangkok, we were met by hotels representative in airport exit and luxurious Mercedes limo was ready for us in literally 2 minutes. Inside of the car, we were welcomed into spacious, air-conditioned with oriental gorgeous smellies interior, Driver has handed us two ice cold towels to refresh our hands and faces. After he gave us ice cold spring water, as it was really hot day. I was so overwhelmed by this meeting and the journey to hotel was absolutely pleasant with lovely and light classic music in background. In hotel right in entrance, lovely girl met us in lobby and called by our names even without introduction ourselves and took us right to our room. She has checked us in in 2 minutes, handed us keys and were gone. The room was fabulous. Clean and nice, bed was immaculately clean and fresh with fresh orchids on top. On the table there was a huge bowl with fresh tropical and most delicious fruits. Nice and large bathroom with big and lovely towels. I might describe some things in details only because I am really picky and i tell you there is nothing I can complaint about. We would get complimentary shower gel, shampoo, tooth brush and paste as soon as you run out others. Lovely GYM, loved it. Really nice sauna and steaming room. I have not tried CHI, found it a bit pricy. Buffet breakfast is the best i have ever had in my entire life. Nothing can beat that. All you can think about you can find on that breakfast. We have stayed here for 21 days and believe me we could not manage all they had to offer there for our entire stay, and both we have very good appetite with my partner. Salathip Thai restaurant- is the best and finest restaurant in my opinion in this hotel and in Bangkok. Cafe Next2 is also fantastic place to dine in hotel; it serves international food and is absolutely to die for their snow fish and pancakes. I do not know what else to say. You will get the best experience, I am going there for the third time this year, mostly because that Shangri-La has made our stay in Bangkok absolutely magical and unforgettable. xxx

TheShangri-La experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/29/06
This is one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. If you pay just a little more you can upgrade to the Horizon Club rooms. This is the best value as you get the best room and the use of the Horizon Club. Service was outstanding. Staff were delightful.

Heaven in our reach....
By pongthai, 9/19/05
The hotel is situated on the bank of Chaophya river. We can savour our delicious food while we watch the last ray of sun light leaving the sky. Can anyone tell me where to find any place better than this? The hotel has a very luxurious space and it is within the walking distance to the most busiest area in Bangkok. The traffic in this city is a pain but we don't have to worry a bit because the hotel is located next to the Sky train station. We can travel to the main shopping center within 15 leisurely minutes. The price is very competitive and worth every dollar for the comfort that we can receive.

They call you by name---everyone. They bring you a chilled towel everytime you get out of the pool---after every dip! Elegant, friendly, beautiful- the best hotel anywhere I've ever stayed.

How to live
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/13/05
There was nothing to dislike about the hotel. From the moment we stepped out of our taxi to the moment we left we were treated as if we were the most special guests on the planet. Nothing was too much trouble and we never came across any staff who did not have time for a greeting, a smile or an enquiry as to our wellbeing. A prime example being that when we ate in the excellent Thai restaurant i had forgotten my reading glasses, i made mention of this to my wife and within 30 seconds the lady looking after us brought a pair for me to use. We will return, a fantastic hotel in a fascinating city

one of the best in bangkok
By sandy, 8/12/05
What a delightful experience to arrive at this hotel after a long flight from Helsinki. Our room 1919 was spacious and beautiful overlooking the Chao Phraya River. The view is very similiar to others we haved in Asia. The dinner was amazing overlooking the waterfront with traditional food and fabulous dancers to entertain us. A must to do if staying here. Book early to ensure a waterfront position. Pool area is great with lovely big pool and deck chairs. Sauna is available but why bother in Bangkok!!! What to Do: Wat Palace- watch out for the tuk-tuk drivers !!!!! sit in the pool.....to afford the noise and hassle.
