Bad Billing Policy
By ,
I must say I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone!! When I stayed as part of a group outing, my room was shared and was reserved with the credit card of the other person I stayed with. Upon check-out the next morning, I was told that I would have to pay the entire room charge because the other person chose to skip out! When I asked why they did not just charge his credit card for the room, I was told there were no funds on his account - Can you believe that a room was held by the Imperial Hotel on a bogus credit card????? My "reward" for coming forward to pay my share of the room was to be punished with having to pay for the entire room charge! Why the Imperal Hotel of Niagara Falls did not verify the reservation credit card is a mystery to me, and a true case of bad business in my mind! My credit card receipts reflect this situation, and I will assuredly NEVER recommend this hotel as a place for anyone who wishes to get their money's worth. I will also never give any of my colleagues or customers a recommendation of the Imperial ever again either. I remain ... and am getting better deals elsewhere now!

Ruined our Vacation
By ,
After spending hours looking on-line via expedia, trip advisor, orbitz, etc. and comparing ratings and prices, my wife and I selected the Imperial Hotel. The reviews seemed good, the price very reasonable, and we could get a family suite for the price of many other hotels normal room rates. We checked in and the staff was friendly and courteous. They made recommendations on what to do/see and seemed geniunely concerned. After checking in, we went to our room. The room was dated a bit with wall paper coming off the wall. We were told it was a smoking room, but the hotel assured us a special air filtration system and spray would be applied so there would not be any residue/lingering odors. Needless to say, the room was not sprayed and I thought my dead Grandpa was smoking in the chair next to me. My wife immediately went to the front desk and they sent up a maintenance worker to spray fabreeze and to put the filter in--we learned that was the first time. He said the room smelled terrible and that we would be taken care of if the odor did not clear. We went out to dinner and assumed the odor would be gone when we returned--it did not. We went straight to the front desk and asked for a room change which they said they could not do. We debated and decided the odor was too bad and we were going to look for another hotel. After 5 or 6 calls to other hotels, we settled on the Double Tree. We went to the front desk to check-out and were informed we would be charged the whole bill despite not sleeping in the room. They stated we had a contract and would not budge. At that point I informed them we would do a charge back through our credit company---they immediately said we could switch to another room. This was to little to late considering an hour before no other rooms were available. I just check my statement and they did charge my card. In addition, I left my business card and asked the manager to call me the next day--he/she never did. This ruined our entire evening. On the positive, the Double Tree was a top notch resort and only cost $20 more per night. The rooms were night and day compared to this hotel. I highly recommend that hotel and will write a favorable review for them.

Watch this place...

They play games with the room rates, be careful. If you book on-line call the hotel directly to check for a better rate. For some strange reason they park tour busses right outside the pool. The diesal fumes will kill you, they keep the busses running all the time and will not turn them off??Generally speaking the place is pretty basic, do not pay a lot of money for a room here. I think the other reviews were written by the owners.

I will never go back
By ,
Seedy and miserable is a beeter title for this establishment. I got off the elevator and was immediately choked by the amount of smoke coming from the room directly across from mine, where a party was taking place. I had asked for a non-smoking room and was shocked that I was given a smoking room. Someone else's luggage was still in the room when we got there, my 5 year old found numerous bottles of prescription drugs in one of the drawers and when my husband asked to have a new room ( I have asthma, and we had a 2 month old with us), he was lied to, and told that there were not any available. When I went down and demanded a refund miraculously a nonsmoking room opened up! The place is run down and dirty! Don't waste your money.

Great location
By ,
I did not like the beds. They were extremely firm and very uncomfortable. The arcade was very outdated and the hotel could use an int erior makeover. The location was accesible to most attractions, and the staff were very friendly.

Nice stay
By ,
Before coming to this location I had read reviews on the internet. Some were good and some not so good. Our visit was really nice, no problem with the room. We had neighbors who were complete jerks, yelling, screaming and apparently had consumed too much alcohol. The nice thing was, once inside our room we could not hear them. We enjoyed the accomodations, no complaints about the room all. Only negative with the hotel was, we went to the 7th floor to get ice and that machine was disgusting. The overflow tray that catches ice that you might miss hitting your bucket was loaded with mold. We went to the 3rd floor and that machine was fine. I was only using the ice to hold on a swollen ankle so it was not like I was going it in a drink. The staff was helpful with suggestions of where to eat and they were also very friendly. Definitely would stay here again. The other negative was the place in the hotel that serves breakfast. We were on a bus tour, there were at least 40 people on the tour so I feel we did the business a favor by having everyone eat there both mornings. What I thought was rude of the wait staff was one of the members of the tour asked the waitress for another glass of orange juice and she was told you can only have one glass. Those glasses are child size glasses to begin with. I just think considering that anyone paying for the buffet can have all the orange juice they want that the waitress could have given the woman another glass of orange juice. Also on our last day there appeared to be a shortage of staff because we waited over 25 minutes to be served our orders of french toast which takes like what, five minutes to make at the most?

A decent value
By ,
The hotel is within walking distance to the Falls. This is a no frills lodging. There was free wireless internet access in the lobby. Restaurants are attached but a are a little pricey for the atmosphere. The room we stayed in had a odor like a wet dog had been sleeping in the room. There is a parking fee for your car, $5 at the time we visited in late March.

Nice hotel for the price!
By ,
I chose the Imperial Suites for our vacation last year (July 2007), after reading reviews on this site, and others, and it was a very nice hotel, we have no big complaints. Sure, it's not brand new, but it was very clean. We asked for non-smoking, and we got it (we booked several months in advance and were on the top floor), and the family suite worked out perfectly - our daughter could go to bed in her own "room" (so to speak), and we were able to stay up and plan our next day. The staff was very nice, and the pool was clean, and just the right size to keep an eye on the kids. My father stayed next door to us, in a junior suite, and his room was even cleaner than ours - very nice. Our only minor complaint was to watch the parking charge - although we had two rooms, we only had one car, but they charged us the $5 a day for both rooms. I should have checked that first but didn't think of it. But, having our car right there at the hotel was so convenient (I'd read reviews that the valet service at the "higher end" hotels was horrible). This was our first trip to Canada, and one suggestion I have - make sure you convert your cash - they will take your U.S. money but give you Candadian money in exchange (which isn't that bad a deal, but slightly less than you should get - at least in 2007). But overall, we had a wonderful time, and we will stay at Imperial Suites again when we visit Niagara Falls!!

No frills accommodations
By ,
The hotel is located within a 15 minute walk to the Falls. Restaurants are attached but are pricey for the atmoshpere. Our room had a wet dog smell but the air conditioner helped that. Free internet access in the lobby. $5 fee for parking your vehicle. If you are on a tight budget this would be OK. This establishment is not in the same class as the more familiar 'Suites' hotels in the USA.
