like a horror movie

Thankfully we only spent one night at the Porta Rossa, but it was by far the worst night of the entire vacation. It was about 100 degrees outside and when we arrived at the room after a long day on the train and shopping around Florence, the air conditioning was broken. The room was nothing short of terrifying. A creepy armoir in the corner looked like it was an original piece from the 1300's. Normally a cool artifact, but here it looked like the gateway to Narnia. In addition to that, there were weird hooks above the shutters that we could only imagnie what were used for. The room was very spacious, but unfortunately we were not up to enjoying it. My daughter, who is 17, actually cried because she was too scared to go to sleep. The three girls stayed awake until 3 in the morning with the lights on because of the scary ambiance of the hotel. We awoke the next morning, when we saw the creepy bellman walking out of our room-not exactly a great wake up call. The location was fantastic, one of the only positive things about the hotel. I would have much rather walked 10 miles to get to Florence then spend another sleepless in the Porta Rossa.
