Nice Place ... However
By Big T, 07/17/09
The wife and I stayed here for 3 days in July 09, when we went to see Crater Lake National Park. At first we were in enamored with the resort. The room was comfortable, clean and well keep. They also offered a nice café that served breakfast, lunch & dinner, a rather nice dining room overlooking Diamond Lake, and a nice small cocktail lounge as well as a nice conference room for conventions. There was also a small convenience store attached to the boat house -- which rented boats by the hour or the day, as well as fishing. The resort also offered a small lending library of books, and a quaint & cozy atmosphere. And nature is EVERYWHERE. It is green, and lush and wonderfully wild the second you step out your door in the morning. The only problems we encountered were that they allowed dogs to stay here in the motel rooms. We encountered 2 problems on 3 of the nights when we were there. One morning we were woke up from a dog barking his head off at 6am and another time were up until 1 am because of another dog howling from 10pm to 1 am. Both of the times it was from rooms on either side of ours and the owners of the dogs had left them alone "Which your not suppose to do at this resort" It took them fairly long to find each of these dogs owns and get the dogs to quit down. The place would have had a much better rating if it weren't for the dog problems. The resort has a lot space for camping ground, nice cabins and 2 motel type buildings. We recommend this resort, however advise people to as for a end unit if you stay in one of the motel type rooms and ask if anyone has any dogs next to your unit.

Horrible Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/08
The room we were given was shoddy and not clean. The walls were so thin that we heard the TV in the next room all night long and didn't get any sleep. We ate in the restaurant and the food was terrible. We will never go back here again!

Very shoddy accomodations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/07/08
We were in 23-B. The door had recently been broken in as the woodwork and trim were newly and poorly applied. The area where the hinges are attached to the door jam were spintered. There was so much mold in the shower that I did not want to bathe in it. The carpets need replacing and are barely acceptable. I would not walk on them in my bare feet. Even at "summer rates" is was over priced. Poor TV reception. Paper thin walls---I could hear the guest in the next room snoring. Don't go there.

Great location for a family vacation.
By Tom, 09/03/08
I was truly amazed at how OFF-BASE some of these reviews are. Our family has spent at least part of August at this resort for the past 39 straight years - YES - 39 straight years. This resort was initially built in the 1920's as a fishing lodge and has grown over the years to a year-round destination for fishing, hiking, snow skiing, snowmobiling and just old fashioned relaxing. If you're looking for the closet Hilton Hotel, keep on driving to Eugene or Portland. But if you're looking for someplace that EVERY family can enjoy, you just found your newest get-away. The dinner house in the lodge serves great-tasting food that you won't find in some Oregon cities. The coffee shop downstairs has all of the usual favorites. Pizza and broasted chicken are only 3 miles down the road at the south end of the lake. Rent a boat and go fishing - rent a snowmobile and take in the scenery - rent a bike and cruise around the entire lake (11 miles) - or simply sit on the beach and go swimming and then warm up around a wood burning stove in the cabins. Watch the chipmunks beg for peanuts during the day and the raccoons scrounge for any food at night. There's a wide variety of room types - motel rooms, cabins that sleep 6 and even a double size cabin with flat screen TV's that will sleep most any large family. Didn't bring much food with you - no problem - there's a small store that has most necessities. Want a more basic vacation? Bring your tent or camper and stay in the nearby USFS campground. As for old fashioned hospitality, the Koch family has operated this resort for 50+ years and you won't find nicer people anywhere. Through good times and times not so good, Steve, Peggy and their entire family always have a smile on their face and are genuinely glad to welcome new visitors and well-known friends. I look forward to joining my other family members for year number 40 during the summer of 2009. If you stay here once, you'll be back the following year(s). As someone who moved from Oregon 25 years ago and who now lives in Southern California, I can choose where I spend my vacation. At 830 miles from my house, Diamond Lake is not exactly close by for me. But it's worth the trip and I wouldn't trade my 2-3 weeks at this resort for any other place.

Overpriced and Rude.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/24/08
A review for the Resort.... for the high Price of $209 per night we expected much more than a old, leaky, outdated cabin duplex. The stove did not work, the very thin windows leaked and dripped down the walls. The hot water heater is shared between units, so we had to take very short showers. The pathways were icy and should have been salted for safety. We tried to talk to the employees at the front desk but they were very "busy" and quite rude. We will never return this lodge - but hope to find a resort around diamond lake because the beauty is breathtaking.

Great Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/12/08
I have been going to Diamond Lake for more then 50 years and years, the Resort is old but you have to remember when it all was started. Now for the last 5 years we have been going in the winter and for the a winter sport Resort the location and value is out standing. We eat out every night and the food is as good as you will find any place. We would have to say the food is excllent. The staff will do just about anything you ask.

Concerned about going back!
By Sassy, 10/17/06
Our family used to go to Diamond Lake every January for years to X-country ski. We stayed in the cabins. I remember it as always being clean and inexpensive for what you got. I haven't been in years and had hoped to return this Jan 2007 but after reading the reviews as well as visiting the web site, I'm having concerns. If there have been no updates in all the years I've been out of State (8yrs) and the prices do seem much higher than maybe I should think twice. I have wonderful memories there and certainly don't want to go and have those memories tarnished by current conditions.

Ok but need upgrades
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/06
We were there is September and the weather is perfect but that became a big issue because there is no air circulation and is very stuffy. Leaving the window’s open is the only option but of course that means lot of noise.I cannot imagine going there in summer. We stayed in Motel room and they are in need of some serious upgrades. The showers are very small and so is the shower curtain. The location is great with a challenging 12 mile bike ride around the lake and proximity to Crater Lake. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help but I will not stay here again.

Diamond Lake need a face lift
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/05
I've gone to Diamond Lake for 20 years now. The staff are friendly and its a beautiful site and lots of good rec. The motels are a dump. There is no circulation in the rooms, no a.c. in the rooms and its a little smelly too. The cabins remobeling in the past has been pretty limited. I think if they are going to call it a resort they should do some major remodeling.

Terrible experience - don't go.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/05
we checked in about 6:30pm and went to our room which looked nothing like the picture. The TV cord was actually hanging across the corner of the room in the air. Very few amenities. No AC, so we had to open windows, which didn't help the heat very much. Tried to open the door but smokers outside made that impossible. Had to leave windows open when we went to bed.Couldn't sleep because despite signs asking for quiet after 10 the partying, yelling, tire squealing, etc outside our open windows went on until well after midnight, making it very hard to go to sleep. At 4am the fishing people woke us up leaving with their gear and trucks. Then, as if in some nightmarish California Hotel dream, some person woke us at 5:55AM by loudly dragging some kind of cart across the entire length of the parking lot directly below all the windows. I think it was someone working in the restaurant. When we finally got up, and tried to make coffee, the coffee packet in the room produced a pot of thin tea colored liquid barely resembling coffee. Oh, and I forgot - I itched so bad all night from something in my bed, I had to get up, and get a blanket and sleep on top of the bedspread. We were too exhausted the next day to enjoy ourselves. Maybe the cabins are better, but I wouldn't count on it. It was a real waste of $80 bucks.I should've driven over to Klamath Falls and stayed there. Consider carefully before going here. Not for the picky or faint hearted. Friendly enough people, but then again, they are getting your money.
