Atlantis Lodge, Atlantic Beach

Upon entering the drive to the Atlantis Lodge, one senses that one has found the "uncommon" among the common vacation retreats along the Crystal Coast of NC. The grounds are lush, inviting to creatures of flight, along with those of us who long for a escape from the daily routines of life! Staff treats guests more like family than vacationers and are readily available to help. The accommodations are somewhat retro, and are a definite plus to the rooms. The balconies give a pristine view of the atlantic, along with the grounds below, which are filled with native foliage. The library and game room offer an respite to young and young at heart.... The atmosphere of the Atlantis defines what a vacation truly is....

This place has wonderful view, fair pricing, and pet friendly! The pool is nice and in a natural environment. The atmosphere is the most amazing part of the experience. It feels like a home away from home!

If you have dogs, this is the place to stay. They have sheets on the couches and a sheet to put over the bedspread so don't worry if your pooch can't stay on the floor. The motel is right on the ocean, so you can quickly get from your room to the ocean for dog walks. The staff is very friendly and all of the guests are dog friendly; this is a stress free place to go have fun with your pets. We saw someone playing the banjo and two women clogging in an outdoor common area on Sunday afternoon; this is a really laid back, friendly place to stay. Can't say enough good things about it.

I have stayed at the Atlantis for 20 years or longer, and I always look forward to my return trip. If I had it my way, I would go down in April and not return home till November!

The rooms are very clean and comfortable. It's very nice to have a kitchen and view of the ocean. My son and husband also enjoyed the game room with billards, etc. A very nice family owns and runs the lodge, which seems nicer than renting from a big business. Finally, the new pool is design is great!

If you are a dog lover this is the hotel/motel for you, otherwise you may want to avoid. Almost every single room had individuals who had one or two dogs. This is (roughly) a 30 room motel. The room was a decent size with a stove, refrigerator, & microwave. Our room had a double (not a queen) bed & a pull out couch. Pluses: 1. Takes dogs for a small pet fee. 2. Dogs are allowed on beach in front of hotel (technically supposed to be on leash, but ours were off leash (on voice command) and nobody had a problem. 3. Very friendly staff. 4. Free use of cabannas and chairs on beach. 5. Nice game/rec room Negatives: 1. Hotel is VERY dated. The hotel (I think) was built in the 1950's and nothing has been updated since. 2. The plumbing was in poor condition. 3. At $180 a night (before pet fees), the resort is overpriced. 4. Beds were terrible. Who even has double beds anymore (not queens)? Overall the deal is that if you want a nice place, this is not the place for you. If you are willing to do a 2 star hotel and love your pets/care about their comfort, this is a good place to stay.

i have been to beaches around nc and stayed at beachside hotels everytime. the atlantis was by far the worst. it starts when you walk into the smallest suite you have ever seen. Then there is no linen exchange nor fresh towels and the rooms are old, dated ad dirrrrrrty. The pool is nice but do not go during pool hours because they will tell you to leave so we can clean. Do not stay if you have children over 11 because there is a 10 dollar per day fee. Then at check out they tax you per day twice total of 18% then they tax you twice on total bill, expect to pay over 100 dollars what they quote you. View is great and enviromentally friendly.

This was the PERFECT place to relax and unwind! The beds are comfortable and clean, the room cheery, even the bathroom was wonderful! The staff was helpful and kind, always smiling and always available. The view of the ocean was terrific and sleeping with the patio door open made us feel that much closer to the beach. The pool was the perfect temperature and the grounds at this hotel are not to be beat. Lovely flowers and an amazing mini bird sanctuary made us feel right at home instantly. The lounge is awesome with something for everyone from the library to pool, table tennis to a wide screen TV with dvd. It even has that great ocean view each room has. We love the fact that you can bring your animals even though we didn't. It's rare to find a place that will allow that. We are so thrilled with Atlantis Lodge that we can see ourselves going back time and time again! Thanks Atlantis!!!

I go to the Atlantis all the time, it's really the only place I go for the beach. It's so great that pets get to go, and it gives the place a real friendly atmosphere. The lounge is sweet, because whenever it rains you have a back-up plan where you don't have to leave the hotel. The rooms are very nice, and the daily cleaning service is really great. The employees are very friendly. The owners of the hotel are also very friendly if you ever get the chance to see them. The beachside is great, great location for a game of volleyball or bocceball or just for some surfing. The pool is very nice, and the kiddie pool is great because little kids can have fun in the waterfall and the parents don't have to worry. Keep up the good work Atlantis! PS - They have just installed a Wi-Fi connection for free for any guest.

The Atlantis is truly a place of comfort and relaxation. We have been coming since my father died in 2000... I was in need of a place to get away...when I opened the door of the room.. all I saw was ocean..from one end of the room to the other...It became my true love. From the time you come into the oasis of friendliness and cleanliness.. to the time of spending time on the beautiful beach...The Atlantis provides a quiet place to unwind and recharge from our hectic life... "Cappy" (our sheltie) who absolutely loves the waves, drags me back to the office to see Joan to get a cookie!!! Thank you Joan for Loving our Baby Cap'N... A step back in time... A special place to spend precious time...
