Never stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/05
Get your room confirmation in writing! We reserved a double by phone. When we arrived they gave us a single. There wasn't even enough room to put a roll-away in the room and, since they had no doubles available (said they were fully booked with a waiting list), we were left without a room the weekend of Head of the Charles when everything full. We were informed that our Master Card would still be charged for one night's stay since we hadn't cancelled 24 hours in advance (if they had a waiting list as they said they possibly re-sold the room and got double their fee!). It was absurd since the mistake was theirs. However our MC company said we had authorized the charge and were liable for it since we had nothing in writing to prove they mishandled the reservation. However the Milner looked scarier than the hotel in Psycho, so actually it was probably worth paying for one night just so we didn't have to sleep there. Heed the online reviews and avoid this hotel. They are dishonest!

Milner- Most Affordable in Theater District
By Bridget, 5/25/06
My room 509 was just right for one. Comfortable and clean. The only problem was the drumming from the Blue Live Crew, or whatever they're called, in a nearby auditorium. Sounds like a teenage rock and roll drummer practicing down on a lower floor. Just a bit too loud to sleep untill it ended at midnight. I think it was Thur-Sat. Earplugs will be necessary for early or light sleepers. Other than that, fine.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/09
Its old and run down. my experience was the worst. my room was tiny, no parking, the remote for tv didnt work, and worst of all NO HOT WATER. The staff told me we get free breakfast in the morning. (its free cause u have to MAKE IT YOURSELF).Will never go back. And for those who are thinking about you shoud consider a someplace else.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/09
Having booked on the internet, I had no idea of the standard of this hotel or its location as I have not been to Boston for many years. However, when I emailed them with a few questions, I received prompt replies and helpful directions. When I arrived I was greeted cheerfully and discovered that the hotel was in the area I wanted to be, near Boston Common and in the Theatre District. The staff were most helpful and printed out numerous maps to show me how to get to all the places I wanted to see. The breakfast described as Continental, was more than sufficient with good choices and the staff even made waffles for me as I did not know how to work the waffle maker myself.Although I only stayed three nights I was sorry to leave and would unhesitatingly stay there if I visit Boston again. Worst Experience Ever!!
By Lenoir, 7/21/06
There is nothing good about this place. The staff are the worst human beings I had ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The Customer Rep by the name of "MONICA" is the worst gatekeeper any business would have. You are put on hold when you call to make a reservation for over 15 minutes if you are lucky. The Manager by the name "MARK" is not even better off. He is an obnoxious human being. I had read other reviews but in all honesty the hotel is not fit for anyone who really appreciate and value decency. So to all travellers who visit anywhere especially Boston, MA and see MILNER HOTEL....RUN!RUN!! RUN!!!

I loved this hotel!
By TerryH, 5/13/08
I just spent 5 nights at the Milner in Boston; yes it is an old building but it has a wonderful atmosphere. The cozy breakfast area is chock full of great food; even a Belgian waffle maker. Sheena & Jackie at the front desk were very helpful and kind. My room was clean and quiet. Close proximity to the Trolleys, subway and great restaurants & theaters made it perfect for a female traveling alone. I will definitely stay there again!

good for a 2 star hotel
By mark s, 5/23/05
the room was cramped and we had to pay for parking but this is a 2 star hotel in the city. we got a complimentery breakfast each morning, the room and bathroom were clean but it didn't look like they changed the sheets every during our stay. the window was not sound proof and it was noisy to sleep. the help was pleasant. not bad for the price and location.

My worst hotel experience ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/06
I recommend to anybody considering going to the Milner Hotel to think twice. I made a reservation to stay here about a month before my stay. I arrived in Boston (flew in from Toronto) and took the 25 minute cab ride from the airport and found the Milner Hotel. The receptionist at the front desk said they had no record of my reservation. I gave her a confirmation code, but she said it wasn't valid. I asked to speak with her manager but she said he was not there. After an hour of talking on the phone to my travel agent (and her talking to the receptionist), we gave up and went elsewhere (the Milner Hotel was full, as was the entire city virtually because of conferences in Boston at the time). The only hotel we could find in the city was the Embassy Suites - nice place, but $350 a night! One month later, I received a charge on my credit card - for a no show charge - from the Milner hotel! I called my travel agent - she called the hotel. They did not return her call (big surprise) until she threatened to fly down and call CNN as this experience was horrible. Finally the manager called back. They had spelled my name wrong, AND had put my reservation down for the wrong month! The manager had to put my travel agent on hold because "the cleaning staff were in a fist fight". Although the manager did refund the no-show charge and credited my credit card for the difference for one night between the Milner ($150) and the Embassy Suites ($350), it was not worth the hassle and the Milner's rude staff. I suggest to avoid this hotel at all costs. They are unprofessional, rude, disorganized, and above were accusatory to me even though it ended up being their error. Go anywhere else but the Milner.

disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/06
I paid S109 per night, my room was overlooking a big wall, it was dark during the day as if it was night, the staff is unhelpful and rude, the only good thing is good breakfast: a lot to choose from :-)

Milner - My Boston Marathon Home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/08
If you are in town for the Marathon, the Milner can't be beat. -Yes, the rooms are small, and -yes, you should get a name when you confirm your reservation, and -yes you should ask for a room on the south end of the hotel on nights when the Blue Man Group is playing next door in the Charles Playhouse (unless you really like the Blue Man Group); BUT the continental Breakfast they serve sends you out to Hopkinton well-fed (self-serve fresh cooked waffles), -and the staff is very friendly and helpful (if you treat them with respect). - The rooms I have stayed in have always been clean, and you meet runners from Europe, South America, and Asia who appreciate a bargain. Believe me, there is no sight so welcome as the Milner, just a short crawl from the finish line, after the race.
