Marin Suites Hotel, Corte Madera

RUDE, disrespectful to handicapped, and inconsiderate staff. Windows do NOT lock, which is an invitation to theives. Staff explains that there is "no crime in the area, so it doesn't matter if windows do not lock". Stay away from this place...it is dirty and noisy also.

The room smelled musty. The walls are thin. The place is under construction so there was equipment in the parking lot, yellow tape everywhere and a large puddle right outside our door. The freeway noise is maddening and we heard every TV program from the room above us, as well as every step he took -- all night long. It would have been overpriced at half the nightly rate.

PRO: Friendly staff, spacious, well-appointed rooms including a full service kitchen. Newly remodeled property with fluffy towels, new comforter/linens, drapes, furniture, large closets with mirrors, two TVs(one in living rm./one in bedroom). Fitness room, coin-op laundry, BBQs, ample parking. Located in a safe neighborhood convenient to Hwy.101 near shopping centers, a movie theater, 8 min. to Sausalito. CON: No A/C in rooms(2 ceiling fans/2 portable fans in room), freeway noise noticeable, parking lot next door used by buses sometimes, no bathroom fan, and hallway facing windows are old with inadequate locks.

Disliked: it is very close to the freeway without adequate sound insulation; the person above us also had the TV on loudly and despite 2 complaints, we couldn't get this problem solved. The locks on the windows also seem a bit "weak." The actual room, kitchen and pool was very nice.

The hotel was clean and convenient. I was in Corte Madera for 4 day workshop. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The room had a range, fridge and basic cooking utensils. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. The free breakfast had hard boiled eggs, hot and cold cereal, bagels, waffles, fresh fruit, juice, milk, coffee and tea. There is a 25 store shopping center with a supermarket which is a 5 minute walk south of the hotel. If you walk north of the hotel, you are 2 minutes from a small shopping plaza and 5 minutes from a Gold's Gym. Next to the hotel is a movie theater. Enterprise car rental is about 1 mile south of the hotel. It has great access to the highways.

Don't go there on a hot day. They don't have air conditioning. All the windows in our room had no locks. Couldn't lock it open or closed. Room was clean, but smelled old. Yes, it's a remodeled apartment complex and when we arrived last week, scaffolding was up around the building due to new facades and new windows. Maybe it'll be better after this work is done. Needless to say, we stayed an hour and checked out. The concept is great...full size kitchen, (all the plates, cups, utensils, knives, etc. you need to cook/eat), dining room table, huge living room, large bedroom, brand new bathroom. It would be terrific if it smelled new and, of course, if it had A/C. The value is incomparable for the area. Excellent price for the size of the room and all the amenities, i.e. pool, breakfast, DSL, etc. Was regretfully disappointed. Neither were we happy about being charged $20 for hardly touching the place.

I have been staying here when necessary (on business) for the last year. This is by far the best place for the price in all of Marin County. The rooms are always clean and nice with a (free) fruit and beverage basket in your room upon arrival. You also get free high speed wireless internet and a great free breakfast. I stay at properties with much higher room rates that charge a fee for internet access. Two blocks from Hwy 101 access and 10 miles to the City. Always my first choice when coming to Marin County area.
