Laguna Riviera Resort on the Beach, Laguna Beach

Well, it may have been a nice place to visit, but i have to say that the whole reservation system is pretty much a good reason for not dealing with this place. I called the listed phone number for two days that went unanswered and didnt have a voicemail. Then, I went to the online reservation system that shows in clear format what units are available on which day with a very nice description of each unit and how many people it accomodates and how much. I book unit 519 for three days midweek and instead of actually booking the room, i get an automated email saying that my request is being processed and it is NOT a confirmation. Never before have i seen that. You book a room online and that doesnt actually reserve your room? So 40 hours goes by with still no answer of any phone number listed or email response as to confirmation. I write an email detailing unit/days of request and when i could expect to get a confirmation. By this time i am already skeptical about staying here either way. I finally get a automated response saying they were unable to fill my request with absolutely no explanation. I call another 4 times now just because i am kinda irritated with whole situation. Finally someone answers and tells me the unit that i tried to book has been booked for over a year. So i am just wondering, why in THE hell do you have a online reservation system that doesnt reserve, and clearly isnt accuarate.

The family and I just returned from a wonderful stay at the Riviera. The room was stunning. We were told they had just undergone a major redecoration and it showed. From the wall-mounted flat screen TV to the high end bedding and the iPod clock everything was new, plush comfortable and the color and decor stylish and relaxing. Our daughter enjoyed the pool and beach. My wife and I enjoyed the relaxing deck and using the BBQ on the front patio as we watched the surfers. Parking was free the internet was also complementary as was juice, coffee and rolls in the morning. The staff was courteous and fun with excellent suggestions for food and things to do. We will return and hopefully sooner rather than later. We give the Riviera 2 big thumbs up and will recommend it to all our friends.

We stayed 1 night on the way back from San Diego (04/05/09). The room we stayed at was the photo showed on the here (the one below green room). It's one bedroom (flat screen TV) with good size of living room (one fold-out sofa and flat screen TV here, too), a family dining room, a covered glass outdoor patio, and a private balcony with ocean view. The only downside about Laguna Riviera Resort is there are no screen windows and doors. We paid $ 272.00 with tax for that room, and hope the information help.

If you can reserve an ocean view in this quiet section of Laguna Beach there is just no place better to unwind. The continental breakfast is standard, the rooms are not fancy and you won't find the features of more expensive places. There is no restaurant or bar. You need to venture out for those services. What you will find is a family owned an operated resort with hand painted walls and a very friendly staff. Many rooms have kitchens and the outdoor public area with a community grill is a very comfortable atmosphere surrounded with native flora on three sides and the Pacific Ocean in front of your dining area. There are beach chairs and umbrellas in the office and a quiet beautiful beach is down a few flights of stairs. The may not be an outdoor pool but the small indoor pool becomes a great area for meeting nice people. The hot tub is a great way to end a day of Laguna sunshine.

Its very quaint and family oriented. So close to the beach and the complimentary breakfast had a great variety of items to choose from. It almost makes you feel like your at home when your away. I would reccommend this place to everyone.

The Riviera seems to be going through a transformation. We used to stay back in to 90's and stopped due to issues with the manager. Recently however, we gave the property another try ( last week ) and wow what a surprise. Members of the family that built the hotel are back at the helm and the property condition and service levels are dramaticaly better. I saw improvements everywhere I went inside and outside. There are several projects underway as they enter the slow time of year and I can't wait to return in the Spring to see all they have done. The rooms are clean, the staff is polite, informative and fun. The location is fantastic on the beach with insainely great views yet only a 5-10 minute walk to downtown. Great food is everywhere. I recomend Cafe Zuloo just around the corner for fantastic fish or the Cliff just 2 blocks north on an oudoor bluff overlooking the ocean for lunch. Splashes at the Surf & Sand for after dinner drinks. Laguna is such a great place that you can't miss with most of the eateries. We will be returning to the Riviera and for families and travellers looking for value, comfort and fun it is a Laguna #1 in my book.

We love the location right on the beach. Eac room has someting differnt to offer. Full kitchens to simple rooms. We spend lots of family time here. Come and stay and leave yur car. Walk to everything.

It was out first time we stayed in Laguna Beach, usually we stay with friends. This time we wanted to be near downtown and experience the Laguna nightlife. We are so glad we did! My wife and I had such a wonderful time with our friends. The nightlife has something for everyone! We were able to walk down to the center of town and back with no problems. Do be careful though when crossing Pacific Coast Highway, the cars don�t slow down very often. The other guests staying at the hotel were just as friendly. It wasn�t out of the ordinary to strike up a conversation with other guests in the morning who were waiting for breakfast in the lobby. Laguna Beach has wonderful coffee shops and little diners that serve fantastic breakfast burritos, within a couple blocks of the hotel, a must try! If you are looking for an all inclusive hotel with servants at your beck-and-call this isn�t the place for you! What the Laguna Rivera lacks in lavishness it makes up for with practicality. The only time we really spent in our room was to shower and sleep. What else do you need to do in Laguna? We had access to the beach and a beautiful ocean views from one of the many spots reserved for guests in their courtyard. The only real drawback I can think of was the parking and that wasn�t even all that bad, unless you had a Hummer. All in all we will definitely be going back and staying at the Laguna Rivera! We had a wonderful time!

We stayed two nights at the Laguna Riviera. I knew that it had received high marks by other guest but I was very pleased by first impressions of the property. It's a older Hotel but everything, interior/exterior/retaining walls all were freshly painted. Our two rooms were well equipped, clean and comfortable. I don't think you could be any closer to the surf. Falling to sleep with the crashing waves in the background was a treat. Service was very good. The staff was polite and the complimentry breakfest, while somewhat limited, was still tasty and filling. Both of our rooms were surf view so I can't provide conditions on the ocean view or street front rooms. The only con was a smallish parking lot but wasn't a real problem since all the cities attractions are within walking distance. We never used our rental car during the stay. Unlike other previous reviews, we were able to check in early a full four hours before the established 4pm minimum check in. A walking path to the beach is lined with beautiful flowers and other native plants. We definitely would stay again at this resort and would recommend it to anyone.
