Sea Otter Inn, Cambria

Don't like giving poor review, but this place really blew it with us. The good: Charming room and the fireplace is wonderful. Right across the street from the ocean (rocky area of beach where seals rest). Nice selection of goodies for breakfast. Plenty of towels, fluffy pillows and hot water. The bad: We were sent to a room that had been used without being cleaned. We went back to the reception desk and were sent to a second room that was also unclean. We returned to the front desk and were then sent to a third room, with an apology and an assurance she'd "make it up to us", which we mistakenly assumed would mean a token amount would be taken off our bill for the inconvenience. Yes, that would have been the fair thing to do, and if it would have been done, I would not have minded because mistakes do happen... The really ugly: We've been back home a few days, and I had to call the Inn this morning when I learned they charged an additional $66.60 to our credit card! Did they intend to credit our card but charged it by mistake? Apparently not. Did they charge us for the room change they had to make? We don't know and the man from the Inn couldn't explain why either, just said he'd credit us for the additional charges and warning me that I should check my bill to make sure it goes through. His good news was that they'd figured out why housekeeping had not known that those two rooms had been rented out the night before, and that it wasn't their fault. But he didn't know or seem to care that the Inn charged an additional fee when they changed us to a different room. Thanks a lot for makeing me regret I'd ever given you my credit card number, Seagull Inn!

The Sea Otter Inn is right on Moonstone Beach, a great location. Its nice to walk out in the morning and visit the seals and sea lions (and otters, once). Beautiful sunsets. Don't come for the night life, and there might not be a lot to do for kids. There is really no beach swimming, if that's what you want. Friendly staff, nice rooms, I recommend it highly.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful on suggesting different things to do and see. We were told to call them any time with questions we had. The rooms were beautiful decorated with upscale linens and a beautiful fireplace. A cute little decorated Christmas tree was placed in our room to give that added holiday feel. We enjoyed our stay very much and we share our experience with everyone who is interested in traveling. We look forward to a return visit.

Great Location, make sure to get a room with an ocean view, it's worth it. Have breakfast while you watch the waves crash on the shore from your room. The beach is 40feet away. Large rooms with a fireplace. The fireplace was a bit noisy, but that would be my only mild complaint. I will stay here again.

This is a great hotel to stay in. it was a great price too. i only payed 75.00 with tax for a one night stay. the room was very clean and well kept. the attention to detail inside the room was wonderful as well, and it didn't make feel like you were staying at just another hotel room. the room had a propane fire place that resembeld a real one and provide a good amount of heat. the room also had a coffee maker and grinder with a couple packages of coffee, which was nice. the view otside the hotel is amazing. its directly across the street from the beach and they have a wooden built path to walk along the entire coastline or places to sit and watch the sunset. it was very quiet and relaxing. the hotel also gives you a 50% discount the next time you visit and a couple free drinks with dinner to the moonstone bar and grill resturant, which was in walking distance. overall we had a great time there and would stay there again, and will be going back to visit as soon as we can.

We made reservations for mid January as the elephant seals were to give birth then.The room was nice.We really liked the fireplace as it was so cold that week.The coffee maker had a bean grinder in it, and that made for some fantastic coffee!The bed sheets were flat sheets,and came off the bed alot.They must not use any fabric softner as they were very scratchy and I ended up with sores on my elbows from them.The first night there was alot of noise, but we were so tired, we tried to ignore it. By the second night, after 2 hours of enduring the noise at the pool,I called the front desk and got the answering service,they informed me there wasn't anything they could do for me but would leave a message for the staff in the morning!I didn't think it was good customer service at all.

My husband and I loved staying at the Sea Otter Inn. The rooms are beautiful, the service wonderful and the location on the beach with a wonderful boardwalk to mosey along - it's enchanting. We stay at the Sea Otter every time we go to Cambria, we have never been disappointed.

I made a reservation just before Christmas for my parents and stated to the staff member, Sandra, who made the reservation that I would not be staying but I was paying with my credit card. The staff member failed ot mention that she would need to fax me a receipt to sign. My parents were asked for their credit card when they arrived and were told the price of the gift. I had to go to a Kinkos for the fax on the weekend rather than use my work fax. Marlene, the manager was insincere, unapologetic, rude and incompetent. I waited 20 minutes for her to send me a fax. Had to give my credit card info 2x. I was offered nothing for the mistake. Was told what do u want me to do?

THE OFFICE STAFF WAS SO NICE, IT WAS LIKE I'D KNOWN HER FOREVER. THE ROOM WAS ONE OF THE NICEST PLACES I HAVE EVER STAYED. THE VIEW OUTSIDE WAS BREATHTAKING!!!!!! I WAS IN AWE OF THE FRIENDLINESS OF THE RESIDENT WILDLIFE. I HAD A HUMMINGBIRD ON OUR PATIO SIT WITHIN INCHES OF MY HEAD AND THE LANDSCAPING WAS DESIGNED WITH THEM IN MIND. CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK, WOULD RECCOMEND TO ANYONE FOR A ROMANTIC GETAWAY OR JUST A PLACE TO RELAX.

Absolutely horrible! I dont think they did anything more than change towels between guests. Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Really put a damper on our honeymoon.. thank god it was only for 1 night.
