St Lauren Hotel, Avalon

For the lowest price on the Island, this is a great getaway. We booked a cheap room, but because it was my Wife's Birthday, her son upgraded it to a better room. We had the room with the private balcony on the 4th floor overlooking Avalon Bay. The room was clean, With A Comfortable Bed, the Bathroom was very clean and towels were folded neatly. The view from the room was Awesome, even lying in bed you could see Avalon, and the boats in the bay! The Small Balcony Was Intimate with two chairs and a table. They Made Delicious Fresh Coffee in the Morning down in the lobby, (No Pastries!) On The Down Side: They did not have many amenities, the TV was small and old., the Hotel was a long Uphill block from shopping and restaurants, No transportation was provided, and No Pastries! (They Could Have Brought In A Box Of Donuts!) Incidentally; Check out the local bus, for a $7.00 day pass, you can ride all day, off, and on again! A Great Bargain.

This hotel is a fucking joke. I was told by someone from hotels.com that this place was a very nice place and had all the things i was looking for. I was told i could put down a 5 dollar deposit just to hold the room until i made up my mind then i could call back and finalise the reservation. I read all these horrible reviews on st. lauren and decided to cancel right away. I got my cancelation # and it was all set. i check my account and see that they charge my account for the full amount without my concent. I called hotels.com and St.lauren and got transferred to 5 different poeple who also couldnt help me. now i am stuck waiting for my money to appear back in my account on monday which leaves me broke, if they do actually put the money back into my accoun considering the fact they i have read many cases where they have stolen people things. I am so fucking livid and i want to make sure one will ever stay at this horrible place. this place is a joke.

This hotel has a nice location: not far from the shore but fare enough from the noisy main street. This was the only positive thing this hotel. Rooms were small, outdated, linen and towels were dirty. Staff wasn't very friendly and helpful, except one guy who usually had a night shift. The worst thing was that somebody from the staff went through pockets of our leather jackets that were in the closet in our room and has stolen $100. When I mentioned it to the manager at the front desk she replied that it never happened before, basically accusing me of making things up. I regret that I didn't read reviews for this hotel earlier, otherwise I would find out that stealing things was "included" in their services. I filed a complain, but never received any response to it until I called them myself. The answer was that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items in their hotel!!! Never stay there unless you are prepared to say goodbye to your money, jewelry, laptops (there was already such case, read reviews!) and other personal belongings.

my boy friend booked a room here for the night we got off the boat and had our bags delivered to the hotel we went later to check in and they claimed the bags never came so we checked in then call the baggage transportation company and they said they were dropped off two hours ago, so my BF went down to ask and they looked again and our bags were there. so not the only problem, the rooms are way dated and ugly the bed is not comfortable at all worse then my bed at home nasty chintz bedspread, two old worn out pillows, and the number one reason I could not stay there was the odor it stunk, so bad it made me feel sick and I am not just saying that, it was the ghettoest hotel I have been in, which suprised me for being so pricy. so we left got our money back and went to stay at Vista Del Mar for 40 bucks more and it was a five star experience ten steps from the water... st Lauren is up the street far from downtown. if was a nice trip after changing hotels. trust me that is just a place to flop based on the state of it but priced way to high... never would i want to stay there and my exceptions are not that high that place was down right nasty.

First we had to wait until 2:00 to check in. There was an unsecure baggage claim area. We had the "best room" in the whole hotel and it was awful. There was no ocean view and the hot tube was very small. The sheets smelled the TV was very tiny. There was no service at all. Very disappointed!

You have to check in excatly at 3pm. No EXCEPTION. They won't let you check in before that. Hotel is clean. Rooms are very small..two can't breath..can't even open the windows. Breakfast is a joke, serving only orange juice in small cups, coffee or hot chocolate, and limited croissant. They serve breakfast from 8-10am. I was there around 9 and everything was gone and they did not order any more. Save $100 and DO NOT BUY THE HOTEL PACKAGE. Simply pay for the rooms and you can buy the rest of the stuff (Boat trip, boat bottom trip, city tour) on the island. City tour and boat bottom trip cost $50 for two people. One block away from the beach, food places, bike and golf rentals. Nice location. Can go on the roof to view the whole island.

I THOUGHT THAT THE HOTEL WAS IN A GREAT LOCATION BUT THROOMS WERE A LITTLE BIT TO DIRTY. THE BREAKFAST WAS AMZING I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER HAD A BREAKFAST THIS AMAZING AND I'VE HAD THE RITZ PARIS CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST.STAY HERE THE OTHER GUY IS WRONG AND SCARY!!!!!
