House on the Hill Motel, Oceanside

My cousin and mate were the ones who built House on the Hill. Should the current owners be keeping it up properly, it's one of the nicest, calmest, prettiest places you could ever stay. If it's only $98 for two nights, I may have to go live there!

This is a charming little place with incredible ocean views. As the name suggests, the motel is perched high on a hill looking over the beach on rock cliff that just out into the ocean. I'm pretty sure that all the rooms face out to water and they all have a balcony on the ocean side -- the balconies are shared with the neighboring unit. The rooms are simple: this is a motel, after all, and not a resort. But they are clean and nice enough. My only complaint is that the bed was pretty small -- it was supposed to be a queen, but it seemed more like a full sized mattress -- and a little too soft, but that's just being nitpicky. The House on the Hill is a good value in the off-season (when we went). I'm not sure how I'd feel about paying summertime prices here, but we got a heck of deal by going in February -- and we got beautiful weather, too!
