don't ever stay here!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/04/10
unfriendly, mean unhelpful in a crisis. my daughter was driving thru in a UHAUL which broke down. she was at the mercy of UHAUL, who didn't have the info of whether she could continue her ride or wait another day. the owners of the motel actually kicked her out after she was 1 1/2 hrs past checkout because UHAUL hadn't advised her of the truck situation. They were concerned that the 8.50$ they were paying to the maid was going to break them. were they so packed with customer's if that one room were not cleaned there were no other rooms avail? not in tucumcari new mexico. so much for people helping out people in these united states

Coming Back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/09
There were four couples in our friends trip to Colorado. I ultimately decided that we were going to stay in Tucumcari for our first day of travel. I wanted to stay somewhere on the original Rte.66. When we first drove by the hotel, we turned around and I told my wife that's where we need to stay. When we all went in the office area, we were greeted by the wife of the couple that were now the owners. She told us about the renovations that they had done and where they had come from. They were very pleasant and courteous. The rates were very reasonable. The rooms were all very clean and had everything that was needed for a relaxing stay. Six days later when we were on our return trip back to East Texas, one of the ladies had mentioned that she had left a bottle of her special perfume at the hotel when we left for Colorado. It was then that we decided that we would stay there again on the way back, and check if they may have found the perfume when the cleaning was done. I called and made the reservations and let her know that we were going to be very late, maybe around midnight. She told me that her husband would be there at the desk when we arrived and that she had indeed found the perfume and that he would have it available for her when we arrived. My wife and I decided that when and if we get to come back that way, we would be planning on staying there. Linda and I have decided to change our usual plans of going to South Carolina for Thanksgiving, to going to visit Santa Fe and that we plan on staying at the Historic Route 66 Hotel. The friendliness and hospitality was exceptional. Plus the fact that is American owned and operated. Looking forward to seeing you soon. I would also like to add that we would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area and want a nice place to stay and relax. Mike & Linda Ward Bullard, Texas

Best of Tucumcari
By E J, 08/05/09
Reminded me of places I used to stay in the 60's on family trips. It might be old, but it's very clean and you have everything you need. I really think this was the nicest place to stay in town and it was extremely reasonable. Owners were very friendly and helpful and have really put a lot of work into this place.

What a surprising bargain!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/09
When we arrived there on May 6, 2009 we were greeted by this friendly couple. We made earlier reservation for Q bed, but were upgraded to a K bed. The room and bath were spic and span, sparkling white linens, fluffy towels; nice plumbing and grab bar in the tub. No dusty corners and even the air conditioner louvers were clean. So we decided to stay there again on our return trip on May 16. We got the same room but his time the room was upgraded with a microwave and refrigerator. We couldn't believe it for the price! The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant and we'll certainly make this place our regular stop. We wish you the very best and keep up the good effort! You deserve great success!

Perfect
By Jan, 06/12/09
We stayed here on our way back from Colorado in March. We had intended on staying on staying on the way there, but the weather changed our plans. The owners were understanding when we cancelled our reservations. When we did arrive the service was GREAT!! We stayed in one room and our teenagers stayed next door. The kids enjoyed the feel of the room. Our boxer was even welcomed. We are getting ready to head out West this summer and will definately be staying again. The value is good and the owners could not be nicer. When I was initally looking for a stop over place, every article named another motel. Skip it and stay here!

Clean!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/19/09
Love this place. It's very clean. The mattresses and linens are heavenly. The owners are onsite and diligent about keeping the motel safe and quiet. Also love the seemingly original chairs and tables. We stay here regularly. So reasonably priced I feel I should include a bonus for them T & R

A Little Gem, Great Taste of Old Route 66
By Elizabeth, 10/01/08
Looking for a relatively inexpensive spot to spend the night when I couldn't make it back home to Albuquerque, I came upon this little gem of a place. Even pulling in at 10 pm, it was soon obvious that the owners took pride in keeping up this older property on old Route 66. It has been recently renovated but keeps much of the old charm. Guest directory had info on the town and area, mentioning the city park next door and a couple of non-chain restaurants within walking distance. Super clean and the bed was very comfortable. Continental breakfast was basic (more may have been available earlier but I slept late), but the OJ was the real stuff. Be sure to get the "key" to sign onto the free internet on a secure network. Drive an extra mile from the freeway, save some noise and a bundle of money, and experience a slice of Americana.

Why pay the higher price of big motels
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/08
The owners actually greet and take care of you. The rooms were large and clean yet kept the old time look. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on at a motel. Good a/c. It can sometimes be full so reservations may be a good idea. It isn't much to look at from the outside so don't let that keep you from staying there.

This is our favorite motel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/08
We love everything about this little gem...from the friendly (American) owners, who really care about their guests, to the comfy new beds, and everything in between...very reasonably priced, quiet, room & bath super clean, and even fresh baked goods with coffee in the morning...the best deal in Tucumcari! We've told everyone we know about it, and we'll definitely be back!! Drive past their high-priced neighbors, and enjoy your stay!

What a treasure!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/22/08
I arrived at the motel at 11 a.m., having been traveling since 4 a.m., & I was afraid that checking in so early might be a problem. I also had my rather large dog with me - another potential problem at some motels. And I needed good Internet access from my room, which had sometimes been a problem at other motels. None of these things were a problem at this motel. The owners were friendly & genuinely welcoming; the room had old-fashioned charm; the bed was superbly comfortable; the room was light & clean; and basically, I had everything I could want, at a price so competitive that I've definitely earmarked this motel for future reference.
