Nestled in the woods of Bailey's Harbor
Hello,
Just a nice note to thank you guys for giving us a wonderful anniversary weekend stay at the awesome Baileys Sunset Motel & Cottages in Baileys Harbor.
When we first arrived, we saw a handsome property, that was well maintained, clean and inviting. Nestled in the woods the Motel and Cottages were very charming. Located right on 57, a few minutes outside of Bailey's Harbor. The area was quiet and relaxing and we NEVER heard any cars or noise from the roadway...the motel is set back from the roadway.
Tall trees, nice landscaping and the property is built onto some "Dells" like ground formations.....we got great views outside the back of our motel room windows.....looking at thousands of years of earth.
The staff was awesome, attentive, open, friendly, and very giving....we enjoyed a wonderful bottle of Simon's Creek Cherry Wine for our anniversary, on behalf of the staff of Bailey's Sunset Motel & Cottages.
A small gravel road leads you around the property......although we did not socialize with any other guests, everyone was quiet and respectful and enjoying their holidays. At night we missed out on the open fires and chatting with our neighbors, sorry guys we were on our 20 year anniversary and just having too much fun!
We enjoyed the hiking trails on the property, which lead you on several small little hikes, one through berries bushes (ouch watch out for those spikey vines thou) and a mini pine forest....which was very cool.....we walked the little hikes several times a day.....each walk took less than 10 minutes each....
We also ate some yummy apples from the apple trees on the property, and we had a wonderful room #4. The property is well maintained and very friendly folks! We had clean bedding and towels, the rooms were made up in a timely manner.
The room had a cabin like feel and smell and we felt like we were not in a motel room, but in a large cabin in the woods. The windows allowed in cross ventilation and cooling breezes. The shower was hot and had slip proof pads.
There was a coffee machine, which we did not get to use....extra pillows and warm woodsy inspired blankets.
The beds were very cozy and it was so nice to sleep on at the end of each long day. We also had a mini fridge in which we stored extra pops and other nibbles we aquired while on holiday.
There was plenty of spots for our doggie to play and go potty, plenty of trash bins for the poops. Our dog Simon was welcomed with open "paws" and we brought his own little bed which he slept on when not with us. He went everywhere with us.
Bailey's Harbor is a short 10 minute walk away....a quaint, quiet little town with several shops and a wonderful safe, walk out beach called Ridges Beach.
It is dog friendly and we went twice a day for a dip and our poochie to swim.....the water is cool and fresh and it made his northern breed coat so soft and cuddly.
Door County is very dog friendly.......everywhere we went our poochie was welcomed inside and outside. The people of Door County are very friendly and laid back and we appreciated that. We found new spots to enjoy, Cave Point Park, and we had a lovely lunch 20 feet from the pounding surf of the lake...it was awesome.
The only thing that we did not like was the motel lights being turned off outside the motel at night....several nights we came home very late and it was so dark, we had trouble getting the key in the door. Otherwise everything was WONDERFUL!
Thanks and we will see you guys again this winter or spring of '10
