Lovely place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/09
We stayed there in November for 4 days. The staff were so friendly. Our room was clean and cozy. We are staying there again next week and are taking our two bichons along. The staff welcomes pets at no extra charge! It is great to have a restaurant next door as well. Unless you want to pay alot for your room I believe this is a great deal!

Great Location for the Mayo Clinic
By The Dickson Family, 07/17/08
We agree with a previous comment regarding how this hotel had a "European Flair". There was a sign in the lobby saying that they were no longer going to have smoking rooms. Our 9 year old love the two bed concept as our room was really a two bedROOM concept; she had her own room with a television, closet, sink, A/C unit, and large comfy bed while we had our own room. It was older with the dark wood however it served the purpose for the trip. We were two-three blocks from the Mayo Clinic. No breakfast was available, however we took advantage of the restaurant attached to the Days Inn once and brought along our own breakfast to save $$$. The cost of the hotel was worth the location. We were suppose to move after the second night into a smaller room per our reservation agreement; however they allowed us to stay in our larger room. We were very grateful for this. If you are looking for luxury...seek another hotel. If you are looking for location near the Mayo...this is your place. This also saved us $5-7 daily in parking at the Mayo.

What a Dump!
By Julie, 08/28/07
I chose the Downtown Days Inn after reading some of the reviews stating it had been upgraded and had improved. I booked via the internet for 4 days for a nonsmoking room. Upon arrival, it was dingy, dark and not clean. My room on the 5th floor reeked of smoke, had an ashtray on the desk and burn holes and a dead bug on the carpet. When I went to the desk to change rooms, they stated that the hotel was booked solid and that "internet booking always gets it messed up." After complaining further, I was offered a different room that had become available because someone else had switched their room. I eventually cancelled my stay and that of my relatives who were scheduled to arrive the following day. Soldier's Field Best Western had openings and were exceeding accommodating and was worth the extra $30/night.

Old but good location
By Tanya, 09/03/06
I was here in 2006 of jan this was a nice hotel the only thing that needed work was the elevator and our bathroom wall needed work on because there was a hole in it but other than that great staff and great coffee

Awful place, but excellent location.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/06
Cons-I got shocked when I plugged in the TV. There is a window right in front of the shower, so make sure to close the blinds. In another room I seen there was a chair that was about to brake. My chair had stains all over it. There were no tables in my room. The ice bucket and cups were sitting behind the TV. When you take a shower, you are most likely to get scalded with hot water. It just didn't seem like a clean and comfy environment. I do not think paying over 50 dollars for 1 person is worth the visit. Pros-They have internet access and if you don't have a computer, they have one in the lobby for you to use for a little bit. The parking lot is next to the building and right across the street from Methodist hospital (That is the only reason why I stayed there). They are renovating the lobby and hopefully the whole building, as it needs lots of it. There is a new great restaurant that opened up downstairs called Pannekoeken Family Restaurant.

a uniqe exsperience
By marie, 10/30/05
when i first arrived at this hotle, i was greeted by the staff at the front desk. and was in my room with in 15 minutes of my arrival, pretty good considering i did not even have a reservation. I enjoyed my room it was on older building with lots and lots of charicture. I love all the old wood work, the old porcline tubs, and marble top tables. the bed was very comffy!!! all in all my stay was good, i was not botherd at all. i will be going back for my next set of appointments at the mayo. with by the way is directly across the street!!! talk about convenience!!!!! no worries at all about how to get around to my appointments. also, lots of little shops near by and some nice coffee houses. and of course a great barns and nobles next door, that was once a old movie theater. its a must see!!!

NASTY PLACE!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/05
I was forced to stay there because I got into town late and everything else downtown was closed up tight for the night. The Day's Inn lobby looked ok so I thought it would be ok. The rickity old elevator took us up to our tiny, dirty, nasty little room that we paid over 50 bucks for. Needless to say I only stayed one night and will NEVER BE BACK!!! NASTY!!!

Location Good...Quality Poor
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/04
The location of this motel is excellent....close to Methodist Hospital and Mayo Clinic. The accommodations left alot to be desired though. Sheets were badly worn and stained. The under side of the bedspread was badly stained. I rquested to have the bedding changed and management complied. But I never slept under the covers in the six days of my stay. Corners of bathroom were dirty with a pill in one corner for the entire length of my stay. There was no exhaust fan or outlet in the bathroom. There were no electrical outlets to plug things into anywhere in the room. All were being used with cords extending great distances. Questioned the fire safety of building as it was very very old and room had inadequate and over-used wiring. Also elevator did not stop even with floor so operator was required in order for elevator to be used. The attached restaurant was not very sanitary. Waste buckets visable from seating area. There was a general feeling of the premises of the hotel and restaurant not being clean. I do not know how this hotel or restaurant can meet the sanitary and safety codes to be licensed to operate in the City of Rochester. Definitely will not go back to this hotel eventhough have future Mayo Clinic appointments. Have researched other hotels and will make other accommodations. If had not been so close to hospital in an unfamiliar town and needed to make family member's medical care a top priority, would have moved to another hotel immediately.

European Style Flair
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/04
This Days Inn was close to the Mayo Clinic and downtown Rochester. The rooms had a European style flair, small and quaint but comfortable. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was very inn-like, particularly for being part of a chain. Affordable room rates added to the experience.
