Baymont Inn & Suites Hays, Hays

I was very impressed with my stay at the Baymont Inn & Suites in Hays, Kansas. Best night sleep I have had at a hotel in a long time. Great customer service with friendly smiles and a awesome breakfast to get you off to a good start!

My family stayed for one night and came home with bedbugs! Won't book a hotel room there again.

The check in was quick. But the room was in bad condition. The couch was faded. We used the pull out for our kids. That is where they typically sleep in hotels and it was uncomfortable even for kids. The mattress was very thin and worn. In the sink area the door to the sink plumbing was hanging down. The tp had something spilled on the bottom of it. It was not a place I felt comfortable walking around in with bare feet. The description says in has interior corridors. They are not enclosed. It is more like a breeze way. The door may be on the inside of it. But it is not inside the building. Also, at breakfast there were a lot of people. It was a holiday weekend. They had one person working the breakfast while two stood behind the check in counter and did nothing. They were constantly out of milk, juice, gravy, fruit, cups, etc. This is not what I have experienced at other Baymount hotels.

I have stayed at other Baymont Inns before and had been completely satisfied with the rooms, so I was completely shocked with this particular hotel. This hotel was dirty! The front desk clerk was friendly and the lobby looked clean, but the room was dirty. The toilet hadn't been cleaned, the floors weren't vacuumed (hair on the bathroom floor), and there were food stains on the bedding. We asked for another room or our money back, and were given a list of 5 rooms to look at to see if we could find a clean one (not a good sign). As we went up the stairs to look, the stairs were filthy and we were doubtful about finding the rooms clean judging by what we were seeing. We looked at three rooms and gave up; none of the rooms had been vacuumed, the outside bedding pieces were dirty, and in the last room the garbage can hadn't even been emptied. We had seen enough and took the key back to the front desk and left. Thankfully we didn't have any problems with being charged for a stay. The hotel was right off the interstate, but that was not enough of a plus to stay in a dirty room. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Checked in and the lady at the desk was nice and fast at getting my information and a key to my room. I like staying upstairs since I am a very light sleeper. Got into the room and the A/C started right up and in no time the room was nice an cool (it was 95F outside at the time). Went to get a drink of water and saw this huge giant spider in the sink. It wasn't a big deal and got the problem fixed with T.P. and flushed it down the loo. The bed was nice but the TV looks and acted like it was not working right and the picture was fading. Went to sleep but in the middle of the night I felt something on my feet. I jumped up and it was a cockroach. I was upset and killed it when it jumped onto the floor. It was 2:30am and I did not want to move to a different room. So I checked the rest of the bed and was clear of bugs. Woke up and got ready for the day. I did notice with teh sun hitting the room that there was about 1/8 inch gap under the door and the floor. So I could tell how the bugs were getting in the room. I paid for two night at Baymont Inn but I decided that I was going to find a different place to stay that night. I told the lady at the front desk what had happened. She told me that they don't get cockroaches and what I saw from as harvest beetle. I know the difference a harvest beetle is and a cockroach. And what I saw was a cockroach in the room. She was nice and offered to move me to a different room which I declined. She did ask what she could do to fix the problem and I offered that if she would take off 50% for last night that would help. She told me I will do one better to keep my business was to not charge me for the room. Breakfast bar was nice and they offered a different array of breakfast items to select from. Not sure if I would stay there again, but the people that worked there were nice and tried to fix the problem.

We have always stayed in Hampton Inns. This one does not deserve to be called a Hampton Inn. It does not match up to the level that every other one that we have stayed in has. Because all the rooms open up to the outside, we had bugs in the room. There were smashed ones on the carpet (which told us it hadn't been swept from the last visitors) and we found two big June bugs on the bed when we pulled the covers back to get into bed. We had to stuff towels along the bottom of the door so no more bugs would get in. The shower head was really short. We are of average height, but we had to bend halfway over to wash our hair. We go to Colorado every year. From now on, we will make our stop in Colby instead of Hays.

Probably not again because all of the rooms are outside rooms. So you have to walk outside for breakfast, check out, etc. Hays is safe but it is close to the interstate and staying along could be scary. Rooms are small but clean.

We were on our way from Wichita, Ks. to Denver, Co. and decided to leave during the evening hours and stay in Hays to try to avoid some bad weather coming in. We got there kind of late and they were great and got us set up quickly and made sure we had everything we needed. The room was clean and comfortable. The next morning we were not going to be able to avoid the weather, so our trip was going to be a little stress at the begining. I have to tell you everyone was so friendly and the breakfast...not just donuts, fruit and coffee, there was such a selection! You could also get it to go! It was nice not to worry about breakfast and get on our way to face the snow. It got us through the rest of our trip.
