Americas Best Value Inn, Waxahachie

Place smelled like tobacco smoke from adjacent room and continued as we stuffed a towel to block space between door bottom and floor. Sink cracked and drained very slowly with scary debris in water. Looked at pool, water so cloudy we opted out. Wanted ice, but room with ice machine had floor with so much accumulated debris decided not to use it. Laundry building exterior siding so rotted at bottom it looked like it would eventually collapse. General sensation was just creepy; only positive aspect for me (since I like trains) was the frequent sound of freight trains passing at all hours (like 3 a.m.).

Room number 141 Dates of stay: 7/10/09 to 7/12/09 List of Complaints 1. Masking tape still on the top of the entrance door from the last paint job. 2. Horrible paint job. 3. Rickety old furniture, none of it matching, in bad repair and filthy. Formica peeling from furnityre and backguard on main dresser falling off. 4. Box spring and mattress at least 20 years old if not older, bed sqeaked wherever you sat on it or touched it firmly. 5. Entire room filthy and generally scruffy. 6. Mirrors filthy. 7. Microwave filthy inside and out. 8. Daylight could be seen through cracks in door. 9. Old carpeting. 10. No baseboard molding around room. 11. Chrome clothes rack pitted and rusty. 12. Chrome linen holder pitted and rusty. 13. Rust on the face cloths from linen holder. 14. No aerator on faucet causing it to sputter and splash. 15. No sink stopper. 16. Light fixture over sink, clear plastic filter broken and set back into place, not even set back properly, filter was filthy, all brown and yellow from inside fixture. 17. Bathroom tub enclosure filthy. 18. Traction strips in bathtub black with dirt. 19. Bathroom ceiling painted in two different colors of white. 20. Bathroom door painted in two different colors white trying to cover what appears to be crayon marks made by a child. 21. TV remote missing cover for battery compartmen, pretty pathetic right? They couldn't even get that right. 22. Ironing board still said on the frame, "RAMADA WAXAHACHIE" proving this room hadn't been renovated in twenty to twenty five years. 23. Sunday morning I woke up to three roaches climbing on the walls. 24. Light on right side of bed didn't work, I didn't even bother trying the other side. 25. No liner in trash receptacle, showing all the penny pinching going on. 26. Curtains in pathetic shape with holes in them and filthy. 27. In short, a dirty, filthy, run down, outdated and disgusting room. Not at all what I contracted for and not at all what I expected from an American Best Value Inn. 28. Pictures on the website not at all like the room I was rented. 29. If I owned this hotel I would be embaressed to rent this room.
