Crowne Plaza Austin, Austin

I love the Crowne Plaza because it is in a great location near dining places that all you have to do is walk. And the beds are awesome. I love staying here when I come to Austin and wish I can stay there anytime I come!

Cleaning staff was nice. Otherwise, not that great. The hotel seems to want to think it is a high quality hotel, but ultimately it was not. The internet was as slow as I can recall using in the last two years ANYWHERE! Hot water did not work one morning, calling front desk usually got a hang up before I finished speaking, hot tub too hot, towels at the pool often unavailable, old smell to the place, saw a maid folding up sheets that appeared to be just removed from the room (I do not know for sure, but I wonder if those will not just be reused instead of washed first), parking lot had large warning of danger for things to be stolen which does not lead one to feel safe, no free breakfast - bummer big time, room was confining, especially the tiny bathroom, not enough plugs available in the rooms conveniently. Overall the experience was OK, but could be expected at a much cheaper type hotel. We did not choose this hotel (business trip), but would definitely not choose it in the future.

I would definately recommend this hotel...it is a very nice place to stay. The staff at the desk was extremely nice, housekeeping was really good and helpful. The bar staff was beyond great. Our stay there was very pleasant and we were impressed with the entire stay. We will definately be back when we visit Austin again.

For a hotel this size, I was surprised to find ample parking in front near the entrance. It was easy to find a parking pace and cross over the drop off entry into the hotel. Front desk staff was welcoming and nice. It helps to be friendly as well as they are busy with other tasks besides just checking guests in and out. Acknowledging that goes a long way. The elevators are very fast and don’t have a loud sound like some hotels do to announce arrival onto a floor (as heard from inside a room). My room was comfortable and clean. The fridge in the room came in handy and the internet access was easy to set up. Room service portions are generous. I had breakfast and it was more than enough to split between two people. Delivery was extremely quick and with a smile. Thank you, Julius! Cleaning staff are very nice and considering that they are sweating and working hard, being able to still smile at you in the hall is telling. Don't forget to tip the cleaning crew please. It's just a few miles from downtown entertainment. It helped make this a great stay. I would stay again and recommend staying here.

I would certainly stay here again, in fact I already have a trip planned here in Austin for January of 07. Nice pool and beautiful lobby. I thought the staff was helpful but not all that friendly. The maids were very generous with towels and such and parking was okay with it being in a several story high parking garage. I was glad to have discovered this hotel. It's out of the downtown traffic, but still close enogh to get every where within 5 or ten minutes. A+

My reservation for a king ended up being a double bed due to renovations. There was highway traffic noise. The restaurant was the best feature! Food and service were divine. Staff throughout hotel very friendly and accommodating.

As I returned home last night from my Conference in Austin I realized I had left an important binder in my room. I called the hotel this morning and spoke to Donald Maloy in Housekeeping. I told him what had happened and within a minute he had located the binder! He was very professional and pleasant to deal with. The staff was very courteous. You actually thought you were staying at a luxury hotel. Food was awesome. Room service was excellent. Price was just right for the family. Kids loved the pool.

Last October I attended a Sifi/Linux convention on Red lion property. I stayed Thursday - Sunday morning, since I wound up helping out with it as well. Postive: The hotel was above par on everything the entire weekend. They have an excellent staff who perform their duties with grace and style. The facility itself was well laid out and kept in excellent shape. Negitive: From Thursday-Sunday the hotel's wireless access was restricted to the main lobby. The hotel stated they didn't like the quality of service it had, and took it down for "servicing". This caused quite a stir, since the convention was 50% computer related! I have never seen so many laptops crammed in a hotel lobby! From what I heard. The hotel assured 100% service by the opening of the convention, but failed to follow through. Funny thing was during the entire convention. They had 100's of qualified techs at their fingertips! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I heard later that the convention lost their shirt, when the hotel submitted their final bill, but that issue lays squarely, with the convention committee's hotel contract.
