Evacuees were welcome
Hurricane Gustav forced my family to go on a mini-vacation. We called several places and Days Inn, Jackson, was the only hotel with rooms available that also allowed my 2 cats. Our stay lasted 7 nights. I had never heard of Jackson, TN., so I was not sure what to expect.
What we received was excellent service. By the time we made our reservation, to the time we arrived, the hotel had booked up. This was one of the largest evacuation events in history.
We checked in, and went to our room. It was 2 queen sized beds, memory foam mattresses, clean, and air conditioned perfectly.
The staff was amazingly nice. Every morning for breakfast we went into the lobby area with our laptops. The man at the front desk, Louis, was awesome. He knew everyone by name (the guests). He heard their stories, helped them with directions and went above and beyond what you would expect. The hospitality lady, Joyce, was equally as nice, sharing her own stories of tornadoes.
When we expressed that we were interested in relocating, neither could be happier, giving advice about neighborhoods, schools, locations, etc.
My only disappointment was that FEMA was not contracted with them and we had to leave for a hotel that was contracted with FEMA. (See review for MEMPHIS PLAZA)
