Not going to stay here again....
By ,
It looks nice on the outside and the lobby isn't bad. Once you entered the room there was a couch that appeared to be atleast 20 years old and it was dirty. The a/c didn't work well either and the room smelled like they sprayed it with something to cover a smell. There was hair on the towels and in the shower. Front desk staff didn't appear to care about the problems. Do yourself a favor and drive past it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Worst Hotel staff I have ever encountered
By ,
I used to be a General Manager of a Hotel and was surprised that the Front Desk was rude and lacking in Customer service. It was 100 degrees when we tried to check in. It was early but took a chance that maybe they had a room open. no rooms they said. Didn't offer us the pool or where we could get water. So we waited the 1/2 hour to check into our rooms at 3pm still no rooms we were told. I suggested to the clerk to call housekeeping, and after waiting another 15 mins still no room. I saw at least 4 other people checked in while I was waiting. We left the hotel to walk around in the heat and came back at 5pm to check in. By this time I was ready to jump over the counter at the clerk if I didn't have a room. We were given a room on the third floor. You guessed it the elavators were not working, no air cond. in the hallways either They also had a weird smell. The pool that looks so nice in the pictures was awful and not close enough to the hotel. The flowers in the lobby were half dead and the breakfast was limited and had no taste. They also charge an exta 9.00 a day called the resort fee. We asked what that was and they never did answer us on that. Of couse they don't mention that on any web page. Wonder who's pocket that is going into..Just an awful place to stay and dreadful..Next time I will stay in a Hampton Inn where customer service is always first....

beware of pull out sofabed
By ,
If someone has to sleep on the pull out sofa your trip will not be very fun. I know I have sleep on many but these are horrible, and the bathroom lighting is terrible if you wear makeup hold back on the blush(personal experience).

Clarion is always clean, great location and the staff is always eager to assist. There are several great restaurants within walking distance.

Incredible
By ,
After a horrible check in at Comfort Inn on the river(and a prompt checkout) the staff at the Clarion Inn and Suites were great they helped us get a room and took care of everything we needed. I would stay here over and over. we only stayed one night since we checked into a mountain top cabin the next but I could have stayed here all week..... Thanks Clarion Inn and Suites Gatlinburg

Not worth the money!!!
By ,
My family and I have been to Gatlinburg three times. Each time staying at least a week or longer. This year (June,2007) was the first time we decided to try a new hotel (the one we usually stay in was renovating). We stayed at the Clarion. BIG MISTAKE! First, it took FOREVER to check in. Then, when we finally got to our room, it was the smallest room I have ever been in. Extremely narrow!! We were suppose to have a refrigerator in the room. It didn't, but they did eventually bring one.(SLOW) When we went to the front, because of the room being so small, they offered to put us in a suite----- for $500 a night. RIPOFF!!! We tried checking out of the hotel, but they said they would have to charge for a night's stay (over $100). We told them we would stay the night but we would be leaving the next morning. The pool was the only upside of the hotel. Indoors and heated , clean. The breakfast wasn't much. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. No use calling 1-800 number to complain or the manager. Not helpful. Very rude.

Be very careful when eating the bagles
By ,
My husband, myself and my grandson stayed three nights at the Clarion. The standard room were clean, but small. The staff was very helpful and the view was beautiful. The first morning that we ate breakfsst at the hotel, a lady at our table found mold inside her bagle, the gravy was thin like water, the toaster oven caught on fire and the dinning room filled with smoke. Needless to say, we did not finish our breakfast, because we had to leave quickly. We had a half a doughnut. The next morning we went to Pigeon Forge and ate breakfast at IHOP. We had a room with a balcony on the front and the noise was realy loud. We didn't get much sleep. The overall hotel was nice, but with all the noise and the problems with the breakfast, I would not stay at this hotel again.

Great choice!!!
By ,
My family & I just returned from a stay at this hotel. We only spent 2 nights here, but had a great stay. I had chosen this hotel based on other reviews and I found them mostly to be true. Our room had 2 queen beds and was a little cramped for 2 adults and 2 kids, but the rooms were nice. I would strongly suggest a street view over a pool view. The hotel was completely renovated in May of 2007. The indoor pool is in the parking lot and you have to go outside to get to it. However, it's a nice pool and hot tub area with a separate toddler pool. The location was nice. It's on the far end of the Gatlinburg strip, close to the National Park entrance. We had a nice dinner at the restaurant across the street called Maxwell's. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was possibly the best part of the deal. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereals, bagels, english muffins, fresh fruit, coffee and juices make this hotel a BIG value. WiFi in the room was fast and I wouldn't have a problem booking here again on our next trip to the Gatlinburg area.

We have stayed at Clarion Hotel for several years, ended up by chance on July 4th. Great place to stay for view of 4th parade(which by the way starts at 12:00 am) Worth staying up for. We also stay here for the Christmas parade. Great staff always ready to help . Location is great! Rooms have always been clean, beds sleep great. Kids can be kids. VIcki of Thomson
